Fun and games
At castle britboy, we are literally in the shit! :-o
Our septic has backed up and as anyone who knows about these things, it's not pretty.
A very high percentage of uk residents and commercial places are on mains sewage systems, out in the sticks it septic systems are required and there's a lot of them in the USA.
Ours has prematurely failed after only 12yrs from new :-((
Systems usually last without trouble up to 40 or 50yrs , it should have seen me out no problem, so we have wait for spring to arrive (end of April ) and soft ground before a new leach field is install. :-((
Soooo it's visit the launderette for washing clothes and be very conservative with water in the house, just coast along till the spring thaw.
All good fun

Sounds very grim britboy. It's when we hear stories like this it make me realise what we have. Good luck hope it's not too bad

So sorry britboy.. I have always been connected to the City Sewage system.. But one of my daughters and a sis in law have septic tanks, so I know the horrors of back up and you'r right, it isn't pretty..
Good luck, maybe you'll be lucky with the crazy weather and have a earlier spring.. hope so...

Just had the tank pumped out today, emergency call out is not cheap in winter, that gives us some breathing space, over the last week or so the snow has been thawing so there wasn't much depth of snow on the tank thankfully and the top cover is only 6" below ground. Soooo uncovering the access cover wasn't to bad.
Now it's laundry mat for clothes washing and very conservative use of water at home, we may have to be dirty more often
Get to spring and it will be investigate and fix $$$$$$$$$ oh well, it's only money

There is always something... We have to have our back deck replaced, just recently had a new roof on and the Master Bath has to be redone.. All adds up, but has to be done.. I don't think I'll be able to make a trip over this year either..
Getting dirty isn't so bad

There's one thing it makes us realise how much water we waste,we have our own water well and the pump is running much less, saves on electricity to

Well..conservation is working good, adopted an old saying in these situations, "if it's yellow let it mellow, if it's brown flush it down!"
