Wigan V Leeds

Started by: wigvet (3574)

Another game to look forward to with both teams needing points for differing reasons – Wigan to maintain their position on top and Leeds to squeeze’ into the play-offs

As its possible Leeds last away game of the season and on the back of scoring over sixty points against Hull last week they’ll fancy their chances and hopefully they’ll bring a good following

No doubt Wigan will start with the same team – I just hope it’s a thrilling ‘close’ game – I don’t like runaway victories, except against the Saints of course!!

Will Bentley & Smith renew acquaintances on the same tone which got the latter sent off recently?

After last week I’m looking forward to it and will be there again with grandson – just hope its as good as last week

And whisper it ………but its another Wigan referee in Liam Moore!!!!!

With the number of grade one referees that the RFL now have, there should no longer any need to have any referee in charge of a game involving their own club.

When I first started watching the game, the normal practive was for a Lancashire referee to be in charge of home game of a Yorkshire club against a Lancashire club and likewise, a Yorkshire referee in charge of a home game of a Lancashire club against a Yorkshire club.

Most RL towns had a referee,s society and a red registered to a towns society couldn't referee that town, plenty refs referee,d the team they supported

On the issue of referee's ,it should not count a tinker's toss wether he is from the town ie moore from wiagn reffing a home wigan game . IF the guy has done all his due diligence been passed by the R.L. Council who run the referees then just get on wi it ! But if it's upsetting some then as some on here has said if there are planty to go round then do it .
What's more concerning is what i read about today calling for something to be done about player's "going down cheating " What narks me was it came via John Wilkie ( saints gobsh**e ) prattling on SKY tv about player shpould do this and ,,,my what a short memory he has especially when was playing . My outlook on this is RUGBY LEAGUE is a very tough sport ,and i do not believe for one moment that when a player goes down injured ,,for me he is injured ,more so in today's game , for on average there are usually 3 sometime 4 players trying and succeeding in tackling you ! I honestly pray they don't start interferring .
Should be a cracker tomorrow especially after the debacle at headingly !!

Last night was a mixture of Wigan being outstanding and showing that they are back to full strength and form, while Leeds showed that they are still in the terrible state of what they have been since the break up of the Sinfield era of trophy winning success.

And they have also not been at the top level since the re-building of their Headingley Stadium which may account for their lower quality and standard of players.

As for Wigan, onwards to the Grand Final!

Good summary OC - 100% agree!

Only downside was the late announcement last night that next Fridays last home league game against Salford, at which they will be presented with the league leaders shield, will be brought forward 24 hours to Thursday - lot of well laid plans gone astray PLUS will put a lot of kids off no doubt with it being a school day on Friday - SKY rules eh!

I appreciate it's very short notice but is there anything that can be done something like BOYCOTT the match that would show sky for what they are or anything else just wondering !
