Well

We never looked liked scoring another try did we….Marshall never got a pass all afternoon…French definitely found wanting at stand off…I know it’s difficult with a man down but we made some bad decisions….and I think the BBC were chuffed to bits

Two clubs in the final coached by ex. players from down under who have not only had the experience as good players, but also the tactical know how of what game plan is is needed to win games.

Peet has never had either!

Don't blame Peet the effect of JSs sending was exaggerated by the fact Willy Isa probably not match fit and Mago isn't worth a shirt our forwards were knackered I don't think they took a drive after 60 min still took it to golden point

Apart from losing,is there only me thinks that this was a decent game
of rugby,played in atrocious conditions?
The sending off changed the game, not the lack of any so called
game plan, and if he hit him so hard , why no HIA?
Hard lines Wigan,maybe next time

Ref. should have sent another Wigan player off for exactly the same offence that he red carded the first Wigan player
How can it be right that the referee came from Wigan???

apparently there was some dialogue surrounding the choice of ref before the game..reading between the lines, wigan didn't want him
personally,I think he was sh1te for both teams

A drop goal should have been taken when we were winning 10-4 which would have meant them having to score twice which would have made it harder for them and better for us to defend with one man short.

Bad game management and indicisplined tackling lost us the game!

Whups

He never does because of being from Wigan, he does not want to be seen as leaning towards them and the reason why Wigan were not happy with his appointment for the game.

No referee should be in charge of any game which involves his place of birth, residency or membership of the same town's Referee's Society!

i with owd codger about te referee, But generally i think the red card was unwarranted - you could see the guy that was hit ell his team mate that it was on his chest. we should have had a penalty try when HKR got their yellow card for obstruction. with 12 men I think the team did very hang to hang on to a draw. shame about the Golden point though but that's how it goes. Too many experts on her slagging off Peet and the team I think. hindsight is a wonderful thing isn't it? It's all ifs and buts. A disappointment for Wigan but no injuries and they will go on. At the end of the day it's just entertainment for the masses and at least Sts won't get the trophy either.

Thought Farrell didn’t deserve to be on the losing side. Bet he wishes he had Tommy L and Lockers alongside him. No substitute for experience but Wigan’s recruitment should be under scrutiny.

Agree with OC re the ref situation....not right that,he's no good anyway!
Again supporters coming on to the playing area is not a good look, but unlike the Leigh notreets they didn't taunt the players/speccies
A Wembley powderkeg waiting to go off, best keep well away methinks.

Kathpressey –
i) It was a shoulder to head – cannot do it in the modern game when player welfare is paramount - should have been a yellow for me
ii) NEVER a penalty try – HKR had another player in the vicinity of the kick
iii) And as for ‘experts on her slagging off Peet’ – I’ve not seen anyone on here professing to be an expert; its merely folk offering their opinion on a public forum

I too am not an ‘expert’ but as a Wigan supporter you expect two things of your team – to win and be entertained; sadly the entertainment value under Peet has been badly lacking; primarily because he is unable to grasp that HIS team are lacking a pair of CLASS half backs

Simply endorsing the recklessness of his actions in the 'modern game'; which it was

Shorrocks was cited with a Grade 3 offence, but only given a one match suspension. if the offence was so reckless and affected the head of Lewis, he should have left the field for a HIA but he did not and in addtion, none of his team mates took offence to the tackle. Surely if any offending player is given a Red Card for an offence which may have involved the head of an opposing player taking the tackle, the player should have to leave the field for a mandatory HIA.

What took place was a example of the panic that has happened in both codes as a result of ex players jumping on the compensation culture and seeking legal action on what they claim have been head injuries which have affected their health.

A example of the panic in our code has been the RFL expermenting in some Academy games of no tacking above the waist with a view of intoducing it at all games.

It it happens, it will kill the body contact game of Rugby League as we have always knowed it!

p.s. In football, they are even considering ending the heading of the ball

''he should have left the field for a HIA but he did not''

As regards HIA and leaving the field it is worth pointing that it is NOT the unqualified medical official in the middle who makes this decision but the club doctor who does the assessment on the field and it was HE who determined Mikey Lewis was fine to continue.

Whilst i found reading the above ,i too thought it was a very strange decision to select a ref from either of the teams playing,IN fact it reminded me of my cousin's Bob & John Connolly both as you will all recall never got the opportunity to referee at Wembley when WIgan
G.B.went there 8 or so times on the bounce .They were both denied that chance because both were WIGANERS!!
Why the RFL decided to make the change god only knows !! My only one gripe is the fact that i am utterly opposed to the crapy "golden point " rule for me the match should have gone to a replay , but hey i recall WIGAN getting the same at HULL KR earlier on in the season putting that on one side i feel very strong against i honestly believe a game should have a result after 80 minutes .

John as Bob were in the Wigan referee society members of a town's society didn't red their home team now their full time with no local societies their supposed to be professional enough to be neutral ,I think Liam tries too hard to be neutral

Golden Bear

The change was made following Steve Ganson who is from St Helens complaing that because St Helens were in many big games, he was not being selected to officiate in big games.

Wigvet
If a player is sent off for what was deemed a reckless head high tackle by the match officials, surely it should be automatic that that the player on the receiving end of the tackle has to leave the field for a HIA.

What the incident showed is that there is a grey area which needs to be looked at by the RFL!

OWD CODGER .
That was my point also both John & Bob did not get that chance because as we all know WIGAN went to Wenbley 8 years on the bounce and also won the championship as was back then similar amount of times , yet the goal ( RUGBY ) post seem to have been moved today!!
Second i fully endorse your comment on the " Alledged red card"" But to me it seem the grey area's generally affect WIGAN more ,or i maybe bias (gor forbid) .
Handsomeminer /
I am sorry i cannot follow your remark if you could explain it better please !

I agree, however in my opinion, he has too many off days to be the marquee ref,
Was once at a match and heard the ref(Russell Smith) drag Farrell out and the conversation went something like"listen,I may not always get it right, but I'll always be straight with you"
Guess thats all we want,....Moores no cheat
Roy

With Dupree being of a better class than Singleton and having played for England, I suspect that some cash adjustment has been involved, especially as Salford with their attendances are not as well off as Wigan.

Neither can I!

More like just Singleton and a sum of money to cover the remainer of this contract for this season.
