"Leopards" off, GB..

I don't like the new trend of referring to rugby teams with a name, like the Americans do, rather than the town they represent. It doesn't do!
It's "Leigh" !

Take a look at the super-league table, there's only the two Hull teams still proper!

Bloody Yanks !!!!

tonker

The idea of names like Warriors, Rhinos and Leopards etc has always had more to do with Australia rather than America.

They must've copied the Americans. Bloody Australians! And Yanks!!

I heard the council have suggested creating one team out of Wigan and Leigh and playing at Leigh Sports Village.
Leigh directors said, "hmmmmmmmm?"
Then the council said "We'll call them "Wigan Borough' "
Leigh directors said, " words removed because they broke the rules"!

Tonker, St Helens haven't changed their name and Salford's nickname has always been The red devils

Peter, yes, I know that. But, the trend now is to refer to a match as - for example -

Saints v Red Devils
Leopards v Tigers
Rhinos v Wolves
Tigers v Dragons

it sounds like a bloody zoo!

Hats off to the Hull teams for resisting!

Too much Australian terminology creeping into the game: we now call a hand off a fend, an up and under is a bomb, the three quarters are now called outside backs, the loose forward is the lock. Eddie Waring wouldn't know the game.
