Sounds like a good signing…yeah a big strong prop now and perhaps a second row

Best Hooker signing since Mcllorum, Higham and Newton.

Higham was probably the last"running"hooker we had(I think!)
Leeds have announced that prop Sam Walters will be a Wigan player in 2024
And Tiaki Chan from the Dragons...three year deal.Anybody know much about him?
looks like a big clearout this year

Joe Maplin

I don't think so.

Chan who is the son of Alex Chan might be replacing Singleton who is rumoured to be going to Salford whle Walters is obviously a replacement for Piece-Paul who is going to Australia.

Alex Chan has a couple of sons at the Dragons, one of which played in an almost second string against us last year, he rattled a few cages that night.
Is Chan a prop or second row ?

on the clearout cornt see them keeping four hookers happy

I too read about the transfer today , but whilst on i would like to congratulate the Warriors for their win yesterday ,nice to get back to winning ways they do need to kick on now with any more slip ups .
We have Huddersfield Giants next Friday at home ,followed by Wkefield away 7/07/23 then Wolves before Challenge Cup with Hull KR. an interesting couple of weeks . G.B.

I would say Cust will not have his contract renewed and King is due back at Warrington. So stand off and centre needed.

He’s a centre / stand off…and a goal kicker…but nothing Harry Smith can’t put right

Roy, he kicked two crackers on Sunday, but dropped off with the easier ones
he finished 3 from 5

His technique is good…I think his concentration is not 100% all the time which is crucial, even with the easier kicks…it’s all in the head….Frano Botica for me was the best I’ve seen for concentration and consistency

If Cust leaves at the end of the season, it will not be Wigan taking up the option of the further third year on his contract as from what I understand, he just wants to fulfil the second year of the contract and then go home.

We will have to wait and see if it is true!

And why will it mean signing a Stand Off when the club has re-signed Hampshire and also have Astley, Jones and Tyrer in the reserves?

Broady, I've seen them also.
Only Hampshire is ready for a regular first team spot imo
The other three are good prospects but again don't seem to be ready yet
They are at the moment out on loan

Lots of players play stand off in junior and youth Wigan teams but how many graduate to the first team on a regular basis?

In a game where the hookers don't hook, and props don't prop, second rows are edges, and the big lads are middles...stand offs have become second scrum halfs .One to left and one to the right..Loose forwards can be anybody, usually the nine, who was the hooker......it's all getting very confusing

Broady..not many last one possibly George Williams..stand to be corrected tho'

Correct Joe. I had forgotten about George. There seems to be a dearth of British standoffs. It is a position where you normally try to buy the finished product. Is Hampshire injured at present?

Missed that one Joe. The squad is the same as Sunday so presumably he didn’t make the 17 on Sunday.

Hampshire is not making the squad as apart from recovering from a long term injury, Cust, Field, French are higher up in Peet's pecking order for the Stand Off position.

But Wigan have re-signed him for a reason best known to themselves and perhaps will be revealed in due course!
