Wigan Warriors

Started by: GOLDEN BEAR (6556)

I was going to start of by congratulating Wigan on last night's game but when one considers the injuries that Hull had the bad luck to endure ,no one like seeing the amount of player's being hurt or injured ,apart from that Wigan put them to the sword . Whilst on the topic i read a piece last week that Leigh Centurion's were having talks with Bevan French ! Has anyone heard to the contrary ?? This player should be top priority for the directors to give him an improved deal to keep him at the club .. unless he wants to go back to OZ it would be insanity to let him go to another club . just saying . GB.

Know what you mean GB….to be honest I don’t know why the game was on tv….and again Cust was utterly crap against a team that was lacking so many first teamers…I know French was brilliant but I think our best forward was Mago….Wigan are hard work to watch

Perhaps the problem at Wigan is the Head Coach who unlike the Head Coach at St Helens and now it would appear to be the case with the new Head Coach at Leeds Rhino's is not one of the boys!

Time for another Head Coach from down under in my opinion!

Get rid of the coach? what garbage!
This coach and his team have delivered the challenge cup,
and are 2nd in the league.
BTW Roy what did you make of that superb pass
to put Marshall in in the first half?

With tickets at £25-£30 for adults who in their right mind is going to pay those sort of prices to watch a mediocre side on a weekly bases

Joe Maplin,
As long as I can remember Roylew has always singled someone out for criticism. Owd Codger turns out more than the average amount of brown stuff on here.

They only won the Challenge Cup Final in the last thee minutes of the game thanks to a bit of inspiration by Leuluei and Smith and as for being second in the league, that is due to most of the other clubs not having the same bigger squads to cover for injuries and suspensions like Wigan have and not in the same position to loan out the many players to other clubs as what Wigan do. A situation which has led to two of the better young players going to Warrington and Leeds as they cannot get regular first team selection at the age they should be getting into a first team on a regular basis like Newman and Welsby have and Nicholson has at Warrington.

The only difference from last season, is that Lam did not have the signings of Cush, Ellis and Mago from down under, Field who was out injured for the season, French missing for part of the season, a good young Assistant Coach in Lee Briers and a situation where because of the lack of better prop forwards, he had to play Clubb who wanted to retire.

Recent results in games against against injury and suspension hit Hull FC, Hull KR, Wakefield Trinity compared to results against consistent St Helens and improving Leeds Rhinos under their new Australian Head Coach prove my case!

As far as I am concerned, the inconsistent play and results will not alter unless a Head Coach is recruited from down under!

Just checking, you did watch all the Game,it wan't nil nil with three minutes to go...Thats what makes sport, sport. Drama, a last minute goal, try drop goal..etc.
And as far as beating the saints ( at magic).it nearly happend! are they mediocre too ,they( like Wigan in the final ) scored with minutes on the clock, it,s sport like it or lump it
IMO nowt like promoting from within the club(worked at liverpool for years)

Most genuine fans are happy and clapping What is your problem? Do you expect them to batter every team by 40 points every week?

No, I expect them to win by decent score against the better teams free from injuries and suspensions.

And seeing that I have been a genuine fan myself for over fifty years, I am entitled to give an opinion even if you and some others don't like it.

Just a pity you don't apply that sentiment to United fans on here, eh Walter

And as for your last post on not being able to have a opinion on something if you aint a fan of that particular club no need for you to post on your favourite subject ever again then is there!

Wigan played terrible in the 1st half and after 10 mins some of the players looked knackered I expected Warrington to go further ahead but did not capitalize on the run of play. It was only part way through the 2nd half Wigan stepped up a gear but even then were caught out by a few good breaks from Warrington and they were only stopped by a few individual and well executed tackles by the Wigan players

If you were a owner/director/player of a English club, which would you prefer to stay up?

A traditional English club like Wakefield Trinity or a second French club in Toulouse.

Recent results show that some decisions have been made where income and travelling costs are concerned!
