OWLET NEST, Ashton in Makerfield

Started by: Gary Hopwood (2)

Hi
Looking for any information regards “Owlet Nest” in Ashton in Makerfield. My mothers’ family (Unsworth) farmed in the area from at least the late 1700’s. The last reference I have is an Ashton burial in 1832. Then it seems to vanish from records. Assume it’s a farm name, but not certain. I know there’s an Owls Nest pub in Haydock but it seems too far away to have any connection. Any advice or information would be appreciated.
Regards
Gary (Western Australia)

Hello Gary, me owd mate, you're a 'turn-up for the book' posting on here!

Have you seen what they've done to Your House?

Hi Tonker
Wrong Gary mate - there couldn't be another one of me out there, surely - ha ha! I'm originally from North Wales.

Fancy that! You don't get many Gary Hopwoods to a pound!

PS. You can throw a stone from the Owl's Nest to Ashton in Makerfield (if you're a good thrower!)

Gary if you type in on google it shows as Ashton but when you get the 1828 burials up for St Thomas Church it shows as 4th Jan 1828 John Twist Haydock
