The names off all the families living in sole st (prefabs) were blakes, (lovely family) moores, boylans kearns, moores (the larger family) whittles, tickles, and last but not least the johnsons, i lived in the prefabs when they were first built untill the LATE 60'S TO EARLY70'S, To barrybus, the familys living either side of the hattons were henrys and closes, mrs close was a lovely women who died at an early age, her twin sons richard and billy kept the house on along with younger brother geoff,, their father wasnt around unfortunately, forgot why, i knocked around with geoff in the early years and there was never a dull moment in his company i can tell you, the scrapes he got me into,(i was the shy quiet one) well id best say no more, ive only just joined ww so so im a bit late with my write up, hope people are still reading it, any one know what happened to geoff close? where he lives etc, i really miss those days.

Although I came from Plantation Gates, I used to hang around with some of the Roach Green crew in the late 60's. Christine Boylan is my cousin.
I remember Bri Farrell and Barry Maloney but no other name's come to mind.
When we were skinheads we used to hang around Morton's across from the offy.

nogger, bottom right on the photo is John Leonard, club secretary from 1935 - 1975, he opened the new club and there is a plaque in there with his name on it.
Interesting story about John, he was shot by a turk in the first world war, he was given a pension but it was taken off him in 1922 as they never found the bullet. He won back his pensin in 1964 when they found the bullet in his hip!
he was also a union leader and spend some time in prison during the miners striker for his activities.
