'Morgan's pop'

Hi, does anyone remember the above? i believe my grandad and great Uncles may have had something to do with the company but facts are a little hard to come by... It waa based in Downhall Green road (I think) and William Morgan and his brothers may have helped start the business.

hi morgan girl. it was in downhall green road it is now a sewing and dry cleaning shop ,,used to be known as pop morgans not been there for years though it was also a tv repair shop i will see what i can find out for you

I remember Ken Morgan moved it to Haydock,

one of the morgan family is buried near mmy parents in rectory church yard at downall green.i remember the pop works well like bentlegs .good pop but gassy.

He also opened a cafe in Ashton.

We used to go there on a Saturday night after the pubs closed.

Chips,egg, peas and bacon, plus a cup of tea.3/6d was the price.

The good old days.

do they use echo margarine in morgans pop or are they related to each other

Morgan's Dandelion and Burdock was my favourite pop when I was a lad!

I once went to a christening and had to eat toast with echo margarine when we got back.Argggggggggg.horrible.

Ginger beer was my favourite from Morgans.

Didn't they bring pop round in those large stoneware bottles???????

I don't recall Morgan's in stone bottles, although they may well have done before my time. (only familiar with them from 1950, onwards)

There was, however in the 1950's, another vendor, having no connection with Morgan's, as far as I am aware, who did deliver ginger beer, by truck, and in stone bottles.

I think he only did ginger beer, ie not a range of pop.

I can't recall this vendors name. Perhaps someone will, and post it for us.

I remember the old stone bottles when they were empty of pop we used to use them as hot water bottles in bed ,what a bang when you kicked them out during the night,good owd days.

I remember the truck coming round, I could just be wrong about MORGANS. Can't remember the name of the other firm though.

one of my ancestors married a William Morgan her name was Thresa from Whelley Wigan he would be my great great uncle.

Just come across an old William Morgan pop bottle. It’s says on it William Morgan. Bryn near Wigan. In the middle it says XXXX. What was XXXX pop?…Thank you.

Bolton direct used to sell pop in stone bottles, not sure of flavors, think one was sarsperela. I think one of the drivers for Morgans was named Ray.

I lived near it great place great people. We went there all the time for our pop. Then when the bottles where empty we got a penny a bottle to return them. You had a very nice family.

I remember pop being delivered in those stone bottles, my favourite was always dandelion and burdock. I can smell it now.
