Forensics- catching the killer

Started by: linma (2948)

I like to watch this program it’s fascinating but last nights was about HelenMcCourt the 22 year old lass from Billinge who was murdered by pub landlord Ian Simm. He served the full sentence but never admitted killing Helen or where her remains were.

What station is that on please? I've always been fascinated by programmes about forensics, so I'd love to watch that.

Hello molllie, I’ve checked the tv listenings for this week, freeview channel 11 9pm. Enjoy. If you google Helen’s name you will see how her family have never given up on finding her remains all these years later.

Another one is called Murder by the seaside it’s written by a crime writer, and one is in Southport. Young fella chopped his wife’s body into pieces and put different parts in black bin liners and deposited them in different places around the town. They were eventually found. And before anybody tells me I’m morbid, I’m not so just interested. I prefer that sort of programme than the soaps or Britains Got Talent.

Hi Linma

Unfortunately I only have terrestrial TV which I watch on my computer. Those programmes do sound fascinating though. Maybe I can find them on You Tube.

I'm much more interested in those sort of programmes rather than any so-called "reality" shows as well. It's not morbid. It's a more intellectual subject than Housewives of ..... wherever, I'm A Celeb, Big Brother, etc all of which are, to me, a waste of air time, and an insult to intelligence.

Thanks anyway.

Edit: I found both programmes on You Tube, but not the Helen McCourt one yet, but I will start watching them. There are also other videos on there which I will find equally interesting.

During the pandemic I was furloughed off work so I began to make a study of serial killers, both American and British, which dealt with forensic psychology, and they were fascinating. A different kind of forensics, I know, but still very interesting.
