J J Fortune, J. P.
Who was he? Some relation to Ellen Seddon, William Santus' wife?
He seems to have been involved with William in the expansion of his toffee business in 1908 but all I can find are references as above title. No names, no dates apart from events involving him as J.P.
EDIT: Just point me in the right direction to find him, no need for full chapter and verse. Thanks

William Santus's brother-in-law and business partner in Swinley Confectionary Company, before Santus went solo.. Secretary and chairman of King Street Methodist Church, Wigan.
His ancestors might have invented Fortune Cookies. Then again, they might not.

John James Fortune married Elizabeth Santus in 1892. They were living at 40 Darlington Street in 1901.
John James was born in Birmingham and was a traveller in books, stationery and chemist’s supplies.
The JP was James Joseph Fortune who lived at the bungalow Appley Bridge.

Thank you gaffer, that makes it as clear as . . . mud????.
So have they got the two J J Fortunes mixed up on the company website history?
"1919
...Mr Fortune retired from business to become a Justice of the Peace and so the name of the firm was altered to “William Santus and Company”. . ."

Two pieces from the Liverpool Echo show cases where James Joseph Fortune was sitting on the Liverpool Bench as a JP, one in 1930 and one in 1936.

But which J J?
I did see a publication about a methodist convention which J J Fortune J.P. was chairman, but again which J J. (G search is playing up and won't repeat my earlier search results)
