Thomas Fisher (Wigan Surgeon, late 1800s)

Started by: brian (838)

Interesting one this... Or at least I thought it was.

Around 2-3 years ago I was asked to look up an obituary of Thomas Fisher, a Wigan surgeon, King St, who died in 1885. (BTW, to the person that asked, please email me).

I found the obituary in the Wigan Observer and typed it in. Turns out the Thomas Fisher died at Haseley Manor in Warwickshire - a magnificent place (think Haigh Hall, but bigger)

Just found a brief history of Haseley Manor here:
Haseley Manor

It was owned by Alfred Hewlett - a Wigan coal merchant, MP and freeman of the borough!

Now I'm wondering what is the connection here? Did they share the place? Did Alfred Hewlett rent it out? etc etc..
