Family name DERBYSHIRE

Started by: empress (9667)

Just looking on behalf of my curious mum for her cousin , who very likely doesn't realise they are related .
Mum recalls seeing her female cousin just once, she will now approx be in her 60's . The cousins parents were named Rene / Irene , dads name was Tommy / Thomas Derbyshire . Grandparents were Rosie and Richard Derbyshire.
My mums dad died young when he was in his 20's , his brother was Tommy, last heard of at Stanley Street .
Do these names ring any bells ? This lady could have married so Derbyshire will be her maiden name , we don't know if there were siblings.

There is a marriage of a Thomas Derbyshire to a Renee Hitchmough in Wigan in 1949.
I found two births of a Derbyshire with a mother whose maiden name was Hitchmough:

Ann B. (born 1950, St Helens)
Anne (born 1952, Ince)

Anne possibly married Thomas Catterall in Ince in 1972. I'd try looking for an Anne Catterall.

Hope I've helped!

The 'rag and bone man' who lived near the Grapes Hotel in Orrell (corner of Sefton & St James) was a Jimmy Catterall. That was 60 years ago, so may not be of any use to you.

There's a Thomas and Anne Catterall (maiden name Derbyshire) listed as living in Hindley on the 2003 electoral roll. Two daughters living at home with them in 2003, one born in 1981 and one born in 1983.
There is a match for the older daughter on the electoral roll for 2014 living in Pemberton.
