Thanks for you replies! Ive had a look on oldmaps.co.uk and found two on that side on King Street, theyre just named "P.H". The one on the corner seems to be the best bet. There is one further up on the same side but is a bit too far up. Thanks again.

Derby Arms was on the opposite side of Chapel Lane to the Brewers,(the one replaced by Brocol House) which was next door to the Palace Cinema, which was next door to the Hippodrome, which was next door to the Shakespeare..

Hi paddy2t10. Here is a photo I put on this site a couple of years ago. Its the regulars of the Brewers Arms. This is the actual photo that hung in the pub prior to it shutting down. Would someone kindly turn the jargon below into a link please. Cheers.

Brewers Arms probably closed in the middle sixties when the then new railway bridge was put in

hindley thought Oddfellows was Pingy? Don't know why it was called that though

Think that they called the Oddfellows Pingy and the Imperial across the road Pongy because you would bounce from one to the other ie like a ping pong ball.

There wasn't a pub where Brocol House is today. Well, at least there wasn't one at around 2.30 today when I went past!
