Brian no one will it wasn't there then,it was known as the Las vegas then. think it was 1972 when the late Barbara Simms (pemps) opened it as Sloopies.

There's no way Sloopies was there in 1969 or 70 may have been there in late 71but i would say 72.I only left school in 69 at 15yrs and went in The las Vagas only once mind when i was 17,so that would be 1971.Don't know how were going to prove it wish someone would tell us,take care.

The first go-go dancers at Sloopies were not THE two Yvonnes but Yvonne Herschberg and Jacquie Siner from West Derby plus Georgie Wong.

Brian, I still think Sloopies started in '69 unless Barbara was running the Vegas before changing the name.In April
'70 I was 21 and knew her well enough to borrow her membership card for a posh club in Manchester so it would have been prior to that.
I'm going to Wigan this weekend so will find out for sure from a friend.

Hello Brian, yes I remember the Merc convertible. I remember she had a young muse, Chinese Bob from Warrington who used to drive it around.
On Saturday afternoons we would go swimming in her pool in Mesnes Road. There were always lots of people at the house, some temporarily staying there such as Yvonne McCann and Yvonne Strumer.
Brian, do you know Roy Heaton from Ashton?
