Then there are those who are still living in the days of public ownership and happy to ride on out of date slower rolling stock.
That is of course, if they ever use the railways!

Once heard an interview with some bod from a consumer group who said that hs2 would also free up the existing network so that local trains would be more frequent and reliable.

One of the reasons for the high cost is that HS2 was designed for trains running at 240 mph. On the longest stretch of the line the 90 miles from Old Oak Common to Birmingham the trains would have to slow down before reaching maximum speed.
It’s like Lansleys’ NHS bill, the MPs voted for it without understanding the details.

like you todger . and look wot lansleys plan did to the NHS . ruined it by allowing private companies in & johnson,s amendment to allow private companies onto the NHS board .
