PREVIOUS BUILD IN PEMBERTON?

I was in Pemberton at the week-end and was looking at a building which is now a pub called "FITHEEN "" What i want know is what was it before it became a pub?? There are 2 large windows up and above the entrance and it just puzzled me to what it used to be anyone know ????G.B.

I think it was a shop that sold lights and lamps.

Before 15 s it was STRETTONS painters and decorators shop and headquarters , not sure before that.

The pub is called Fifteen, Golden Bear.

It definitely was Stretton's. I used to go there for paint and wallpaper. It was a very good shop and Les Stretton was really helpful. I miss that shop.

Unfortunately, there are no paint and wallpaper shops in Pem now. The only wallpaper shop that I know of in Wigan is down Library Street.

Oh, yes I did mean Wallpaper Supplies.

The last time I was in Wigan was in 2008, so it just goes to show how out of touch I am. What a pity. That was a good shop too.

I too don't go into Wigan town Centre like i used to ,because it's become a DUMP! with all the destruction that this council are doing. One time me and the boss would pop up town regularly ,but not these day's ,and mainly due to my inability due to health problem's , i cannot walk reasonable distances any more, so we tend to go to out of town mall's . But back to Wallpaper Suppliers i cannot for the life of find a decent suppliers. If anyone reads this do you know anywhere ???????? G.B.

The only place I know have a fair choice of wall paper and paint is B andM near sainsbury,s

Wallpaper Supplies was my gran's go to place for decorating items. Just seen they are now selling on Ebay UK.

The old British Queen pub became Pemberton Lighting, it was on the corner of Ormskirk Road and Wardley Street, it was demolished and a row of shops and flats were built in it's place.
