Did you know... Wigan Corpy buses had a green light each side of the front destination sign ..so at night you could distinguish it from Rubble buses ?

BB is that "Barny"Rubble I can remember catching buses from the Half Way House to Wigan and you stood between two bus stops to wait for a bus because Ribble had their own bus stop and Wigan Corp had their own and neither bus would pick up at the wrong bus stop Last week I went to Wigan and there was a single decker bus in the depot in Wigan Corporation colours

PeterP

I used to catch the bus to and from the Halfway House, and the Ribble bus stop was outside of Rylances, with an "alighting only" printed on the bus stop, straight across the road and slightly up from the Wigan Corpy bus stop, was the outward bound Ribble bus stop, and did you know Peter that the Halfway House got it's name from the fact that it is halfway between Wigan & Abbey Lakes, and there was originally a tram service which ran from Wigan to Abbey Lakes
