USERNAMES

Started by: mollie m (8379)

I’ve been wondering, what made you choose yours? I chose mine because it’s my name - Mollie - and the other M is the first letter of my maiden name, as I never give my married name over the internet.

Some are obvious like Tomplum, PeterP, Billinge Biker, and a couple more, but what about you others? How about you, Golden Bear, First Mate, Cheshire Cat, Gaffer, etc? I know what a Tonker is, but I’d love to know how folk chose their usernames.

Or, have you ever been given a nickname? I’ve always been known as Mollie, or Moll, which is fine, but at work my first boss nicknamed me Supermoll, and much later, a colleague who I worked closely with decided to name me The Mollster, for some unknown reason, none of which I minded.

I get called Mo with everybody..short for Maureen.and Mac is the first three letters of my surname.

Just as an aside, one day visiting my Mam she suddenly said “now listen Mo,I don’t like everybody calling you Mo..I had you christened Maureen,so that’s what they should be calling you”I said but Mam you always call me Mo as well..her reply was oh no Mo I do not.LOL.

LOL! That's funny!

So you chose yours in a similar way that I chose mine.

I have to admit my username is none too imaginative So Let me guess at the ones you don't know,
Golden Bear, he likes marmalade on toast whilst holding his teddy
First mate, he once had a go in a row boat in Southport
Cheshire cat, an owd girl with delusions of grandeur
Gaffer, he's a teller, not a doer

I give nicknames to most of my neighbours , there a Mister bean, He looks like Rowen Atkins, There's the Clampetts, who are don't comply with any parking rules and live like hillbillies, then we have the Drysdalesm who live next door, We have, Handbag who gossips about others at the bus stop, We have the, Marathon Mon who power walks every day and checks his watch every 100 yards, There is the silver spoon mon, he has a dad with a business and borrows the company cars/vans and has everything delivered , The tyre kicker, who checks his tyres every day before driving,
The rat mon and his wife rat girl who complain continually to the council about an empty house with the hope that if they mention rats, someone will make it better. Then we have torvid and dene two skate boarders tupence a bag, she's a lady that feeds pigeons every day, they wait on her roof every day at 10 am,

I bet they don't know what you call them.

I'm genuinely interested in Usernames though because they must have a reason for them.

A few years ago when i was working for a living, It was the tradition to meet in the pub after work on a friday at tea time, 4 pm,
Our usual watering hole had been shut for refurbishment for a while and when it re opened we met there again,
There was now new furnishings and in the corner was a big round table, We decided to sit at that table and for some fun, named our group, ' knights of the round table' I was Sir Plumalot, there was a Sir Joinalot, A Sir plasteralot and, a Sir drinkalot, a Sir Smookalot and while we're having the craic a mate of ours came in, A big chap, 6 ft tall and 25 stone and some said, " Hey Sir Cumferance, get in here "

"First mate, he once had a go in a row boat in Southport"

I did that when I was 5yrs old tom. I graduated from there, to owning several boats over the years .Real ones not toy ones. My crew call me First Mate. I hope that answers your question mollie

Someone once said I had the daftest name on Wigan World. But I dont think he quite got the meaning I wasnt Brassedoff though

Tom: I love the names of your Knights of the Round Table, especially Sir Cumference! That's a cracker!

First Mate: Yes, that answers my question. I made the assumption that it was to do with the Naval term,, perhaps, having been First Mate on a ship.

Peter, I'm very glad you changed your Username, otherwise we'd be at it all day and night just typing that lot out!

Well, I can hazard a guess why your first two use their names, but I won't mention why here. StarDelta is a reduced voltage starter - so electrical in origin.

Also, I wanted to join this forum as just Mollie, or MOLLIE, but there apparently were already two other Mollies registered here, but I can’t change it now unless I re-register.

Slightly off track but when I worked down the mine when you went into a district(Area of the mine) you were booked into a register by the official so they could keep track of everyone. One day I went to book in and I was asked my name so I said Peter Partridge the official said he could not spell Partridge so he wrote Peter Duck and to this day some Ex-miners still call me by that name and do not realise it was a nick name

Rio Caroni is the name of the plane flown by Jimmy Angel when he found the Angel Falls. It is the gate guardian at Bolivar airport in Venezuela and I took my wife's photo in front of it. So since then I have used it for a couple of passwords and the like?

My username JR sort of relates to JR of Dallas TV series; perhaps.. without going into details.
There is a more enigmatic reason... but let me just say to Dallas fans - I am very much like Bobby and certainly not JR!

I love all the reasons behind these Usernames.

Pyeta: I sort of guessed that one.

JR: I'm very pleased that you're more like Bobby than JR. He was a nasty piece of work!

When I was working for my cousin in Australia in the earthmoving business, he ordered a brand new machine and said it was mine to operate if I looked after it. The day before it was delivered he said he would put my name on it and when it arrived it had a large letter P sign written on the side and a picture of a bee next to it. When I asked why it said 'PBee' his reply was there wasn't enough room fit 'Pommie Bastard' on it. Oh how we laughed .

Frecky: Oh, right.

I wonder where Tommy Two Strokes got his name from. Anything to do with a 2-stroke engine? Or, has he had two strokes? I hope it isn't the latter.
