A gardening tip that I got on here

Started by: tomplum (13784)

It was a few years ago and my tomatoes were big but Green, It was late September and all the sun and heat had faded and the tip was, Put them in a drawer and they will go red, So I do this every year and, it works, I'm still enjoying home grown tomatoes in October but, that taste of home grown fresh off the vine is not the same, they are still worth the effort

I will try that with the tomatoes to see if it works

You can also put a ripe banana with the tomatoes, and that will speed them up quicker still.

Well today I finished the last of the tomatoes , they all turned red eventually and been consumed,
I'm now having to buy them from the soopermakets again,
Moral of the thread is, Don't throw your green tomatos away in September/October, put them in a drawer, they will turn red,
