The Footage Detectives

Started by: linma (2953)

On a Sunday on channel 82 on the freeview channel I like to watch The Footage Detectives. Last night Mike Reed was talking about the sponge puddings that came in a tin made by Heinz and he said he loved them with custard. Me too. I don’t think they make them now and that’s a pity.

I remember them well. My favourite was the one with syrup.

One can make their own toast toppers by thickening a tin of soup.

I emailed Heinz and so many people have contacted them only to be told they will not be making them again. My favourite Big Harold was the same as yours.

Can't remember the comedian who said he had to go to hospital with scalded feet because he had a Heinz sponge pudding and the instructions said. Peirce lid and stand in boiling water for 10 minutes!

Iceland do sponge puddings for £1.25 each. My favourite is Raspberry Jam, but the Golden Syrup is good too!

My partner loved Heinz sponge puddings which he kept at the back at the top of one of the wall-mounted kitchen cabinets.

Because I couldn't reach the top cabinets, I only kept things at the very front and used a little step to reach what I needed.

Anyway, one day I got out some step ladders to see what was in there and I found two Heinz sponge puddings, one syrup and one raspberry. Wondering how long they'd been there I got them down and, as I did, they both rattled like a pair of castanets! On scrutising them further, the use by dates were 2008 and 2009.
