Battery Power ......

...... is great, especially used in solar systems. A friend of mine has just spent over £3000 on a Lithium Ion battery bank to replace his old fork-lift truck lead/acid battery. Used electric vehicle batteries are available cheap and do work when used in home solar systems. I imagine more home solar systems will be invested in as the price of electric isn't going down.
However, I'm not convinced about them lithium batteries, and this is why!

But, they're here to stay, apparently. What do you think?

There have been some recalls on some of the batteries used in domestic solar/inverter applications here in Australia because they had a potential fire risk. It's OK to have an Isolator fitted - but you can't isolate the chemical reaction that goes on inside the battery.
