HYBRID CAR INSURANCE

Started by: admin (1914)

Has anyone got a Hybrid Car? Just about to change my car for a Toyota Auris Auto.Hybrid WOW I thought the insurance would be reasonable due to the safety measures on this car.. The Cheapest quote I can find up to now is around £700.... Is this reasonable for a car with this spec. Or am I out of touch with the cost of car insurance today?? I'm only paying about £250.00 with SAGA on a 3 year fixed price and I'm now in the last year..Picking the car up on Friday so need to get something sorted a.s.a.p.

If you are "with SAGA on a 3 year fixed price" and you are, "now in the last year", you might be better off just notifying SAGA that you are changing the car and pay a few quid towards including the new car to your current policy? Then, when your renewal is due, you'll be contacted by all the brokers trying to get your custom.
Don't forget, they're only brokers and they're all selling you the same thing.

Tonker, I did contact SAGA and the agent said to cover me for the next 6 months, until my insurance is due, it would be something like £560+ To say I nearly 'dropped off my chair' is an understatement..After being told by the salesman that its cheap insurance... I've been searching all the comparison sites and the cheapest I found is £553 However that's on condition I have a "box" fitted. The next one is with ESURE FLEX and that's coming out at £658...

If it were me I would find out what you would pay for insurance for the car you have now, and that is from all of the comparison websites, because car insurance has shot up in price over the last few years, so to compare the price of insurance between your old and new car, you need to know what both prices will be, and then you can see how much more expensive electric car insurance is.

TTS As I said I'm out of touch as I haven't had to look around for Car insurance quotes for 2 years. I still think £10 is a lot of money<g>

The last time I took car insurance out was nearly 9years ago and I am temp using the same car now I looked at the last policy (I kept a few) and it was £190 fully comp with 15 years NCB. Due to get a new car back end of Oct-ish thought I would get a quote from the same company. Completely different car and starting with 0 NCB they where quoting just over £1000 Nearer the time I will get quotes then and contact Motability again for a letter of no claims in 8 years with them. Some insurers will give a discount with this letter

I was paying £217p.a. for my Corolla on a three year deal which was up next Jan 2025 it was 04 plate..but engine and bodywork interior grea,t that is with SAGA. Rang them and asked how much for the rest of the policy for the Auris.. I nearly fainted when the agent said something like £760 I asked was that for 12 months he said no for the rest of the insurance cover up until end January Anyway I've manged to get insurance for £627 with ESURE Just looked on the SAGA site and its quoting £1,600+ for 12 months.. I should be able to off set this cost of the extra insurance cost with the petrol I'll save As the AURIS is rated at 73 mpg

Will you be getting a charging point installed at your home?

Most hybrid cars aren't plug-in.
