A dart thrower's logic is a scientific unexplainable pheunomium , Usually a low achiever in the classroom yet can go through 10's of thousands of Different calculations to get the quickest and simplest way from 501 to a double on the dart board, Combine that with lungs full of coal dust , Add a red flag in the mix and ,We have a member who has faith in a public Skoolboy with a knighthood who hates pensioners and tax fiddlers even though, He himself has fiddled tax on his own pension, Logic goes out the window,

I have two pensions The State Pension and my BCSSS pension.I pay through the nose tax on my pit pension so why does Starmer get his tax free In April next year a few pensioners will get a shock because now they get their state pension tax free but if they go over their personnel tax threshold then they will be liable to pay tax on the extra. The labour party are going to raise the pension again next year but unless they raise the personnel tax then even more people will end up paying tax

Whupsie I paid for 10 yrs into the miners pension scheme then I became a Deputy and transferred my money into has you put it into the(NACODS) BCSSS Scheme for another 10years. The scheme took a gamble and stood alone without any Government support so NO % going to any Government ..I pay tax on this pension and not that it is anyone's business but I pay over 4 figures in tax on this pension How much tax does your leader (Scargill) pay in tax the last I heard he was now worth Millions. I never got any extra money from the scheme only what I was due to when I was entitled to draw the pension . You draw the state pension and the pit pension do YOU pay tax on this,Why don't you tell everyone how much your income is via this site instead of having a dig/probe about other peoples finances which are private to them

I am still waiting as well for Whups to answer my question in which I asked him, if he needed neccessay and urgent medical treatment and the NHS were to offer it at a private sector clinic or hospital, would he accept it or stick to his left wing socialist principles and decline.

Again, a simple yes or no would suffice!

And yes if its free and costs you nothing, take it

Some people are daft enough to pay for private treatment when sometimes its available for nothing?

Whoopsie, again you make a statement about "you know who following you around." so in your silly logic people can only comment if it suits you, otherwise they are "following you around". With regard to your comment "Starmer will do the right thing" what planet do you live on, he's a politician, so he'll take as much as he can, as he has proved up to now. It's definitely time you got the knitting needles out.

Whups we are now in 2024 not 1984 A lot of water has gone under the bridge since then and I have tried to get on with my life, Got grandchildren lost my wife but muddle through every day.Like I have asked what did your leader Scargill do for the miners except get more pits shut and more men out of work He would never have won against Thatcher and even the (NUM) ended up splitting into two factions and became the NUM and UDM. Please enlighten me about the NUM were going to take Scargill to court over the sale of his grace and favour houseHe is now worth millions and I bet he does not pay tax on his pension . In your comment above you say you have a smaller pension than me but PAY TAX ON BOTH so much be past your personal tax threshold. At the end of the day we were both pawns in a very dangerous game but has I have said above I don't hold 40YEARS of resentment in my life and how many people care anyway

My question was and has been to Whups on a number of previous ocasions and he has still not give a simple answer of yes or no.

And if some people can afford to pay for private treatment that is their decision and they do not have to be told that they daft in doing so.

The politics of envy of what other people can afford and get has long gone for many in today's society with membership of a private medical scheme being a priority as a result of the present state of the chaotic NHS not coping with the increasing population.

And before the usual suspects have a go, they should asked themselves how many members of today's Labour party have private treatment or are in a private medical schemes.

If education is anything to go by, quite a few!

I couldn't agree more.
It's the ones that can't afford to pay it what concerns me the most.
A bit of social levelling out wouldn't go a miss in situations regarding national health treatment. Although I doubt that you would agree with that?

You might find that in the future with the way that the NHS is not coping with the ever increasing population, a two tier health system like in many other countries might happen rather than your 'levelling out'.

Handsomeminer I was making a comparison to Starmer who will get a tax free pension along with the rest of the political elite to Scargill who has feathered his own nest over the last 40years since the miners strike. This is a democratic country and I have my opinion and will not be censured by anyone and have the greatest admiration for ALL ex-miners whether they worked or not during the strike. Like I have said besides the minority who cares after 40 years. It divided families/friends but the outcome was the same .THERE ARE NO MORE MINES and we are a fast dying breed. What happened 40 years ago will soon be consigned to history and even that can and will be two sided.KING COAL IS NO MORE and I don't think I will ever see it again in my lifetime. Maybe I was naive at the time but I did vote to come out on strike

Who cares! A lot of people care!
And, it will never be consigned to history by the people that do care. It will only be consigned to history by the people who bury their heads in the sand and hope that it goes away. Which, it will NEVER go away.

The wounds will never be healed by the familys affected by it. Some were on strike, some scabbed and worked throughout
And I'm speaking from family and friends experience.
Some have never spoken to each other to this day, and, never will again due to their family members crossing the picket line.

Cheshire cat next week I will be attending a funeral for an ex deputy who I worked with. His Brother was out on strike and on the picket line. They went out to socialise together and I talk to his brother when I see him out and about and he has never snubbed me.
I was talking to a young girl (i would say 20ish)in Asda yesterday and part of the conversation got round to where I worked. I told her my 1st job was down Golborne Colliery and she did not even know there had been a pit in Golborne or that 10 good men died in the explosion there Ask the last two generations about the pits and most don't know anything about them,

Anyone has the right to express an opinon on the rights and wrongS of what was the worse outcome of a strike in the history of the trade union movement since the general strike of 1926.

As Cheshirecat has said, it should never be consigned to history as it had a terrible ongoing effect afterwards on mining communities from which many have never recovered.

Like the remembering of two world wars every year, the demise of our mining industry should always be remembered!

The younger generation do not know anyting about many things like the mining industry and other historical events because unlike people of our generation, they are not taught about the things we were taught about at school.

You only have to see how many celebrities abnd others on television quiz shows are so thick when answering simple general knowledge questions unless of course, it is a question about pop music

OC a few years ago through this site a bloke who worked on the industrial site for a few years on what was Golborne colliery did not know there had been a pit there. Also how many of the householders or boaters at the marina at Bickershaw know about the pit and also Parsonage Retail Park also built on a pit site. these pits only closed 1989-92 and are mainly forgot about. Next will be the Parkside colliery site which is slowly being redeveloped now only the locals will remember it in a few years time. These were the last of the working mines in our area. The Three sisters industrial/recreational area had 13 mine shafts dotted about a vast area but even I don't know which pits worked over there except Garswood Hall all of them closed before my working life
