To get a card giving you the right to vote at a polling station or send in your vote by post is obtained by filling in the election registration form delivered to a property.

But the problem is that many will not fill in the form with the result that a representative of a Council has to go the property and try to get people to sign the form which is supposed to be mandatory to return, but in many cases is never signed while many only sign the form because it is put across to them that if they do not, their credit rating will be affected or they can never be contacted at the address on the form.

The majority of voting registration forms are filled, but many do not vote because of a number of reasons including for example for example, having the belief that politicians are only in it for themselves, only for the credit rating, only interested in their own living or just simply not being interested in politics and voting.

In spite of the population forever going up, percentage wise, less people are voting than in the past, especially in local elections.
