Alcohol

"Do not regularly drink more than 14 units per week" - it says on the label."

I am sure that I do not, though I have exceeded that over the festive season, extended until tomorrow, as it's my birthday.

But, I just wonder, what is reasonable consumption, in terms of units, at a single session?

How does level of intoxication map to units consumed? I have no idea whatsoever!

Got my car booked in for MOT at 10am tomorrow, but will have to leave it earlier, as have to be home for a delivery expected at 9-45am. I leave car for whole day, partially so they can fix and retest if nec, but also I get them to do any routine maintenance whilst they have the car.

So, as I will not be indulging in my birthday drinking until late in the day, when car is sorted. (Don't mix drink & drive) - I've split the session, started celebration tonight (hic!) and will finish tomorrow after completing any driving.

Goin to be more than 14! Will have to have a prolonged abstinence to compensate, though I guess it don't work that way.

Ena you should leave at least a hour per unit before you drive. So if you have 4 pints= approx 8 units will equate to 8hrs from you stopping drinking to driving your car. So don't drink too much at once and enjoy your birthday

Ena, you may remember Gerard Cunliffe off Rose hill, A boozer all his life and a pit mon till the pits shut in the 90,s When he was made redundant at the age of 55 he took up full time drinking and drank 15 pints of Guinness EVERY DAY, 7 pints at Lunchtime and 8 more in the evening, Despite warnings from the Doctor of an early grave, Gerard ( AKA Cas) live to be 84 years old and was active and drinking beer , Although in his later years he had to reduce the amounts almost to his dying day, I would not recommend everyone do this but, It does show that, A little of what you fancy, does you good,

@ Peter P , much depends on the strength, I personally wouldn't risk 8 hours after 4 pints of guinness.
Have a look at this

For the last 25yrs or so I have quaffed on average 6 cans of cider per night without fail and if I turn out possibly more. I had a kidney scan and blood tests the other week... Sadly for the units per day police my results were just below average... Nowt up with. me.... I only went because of routine requirements from my doctors... Everybody's metabolism is different.. And No I don't drink and drive. Only go out after dinner in the motor if required.
