Named after the ship he was on, he left it to his son who turned it into a restaurant, but it didn't seem to take off as expected

Remember him well... He was a chief petty officer Steward on HMS Albion. Sadly missed.

The Albion was a bit unusual, in that it wasn't like a chippy inside, with a frying range, it had a high counter, but it was just a waiting room, the cooking being done in the back, they just brought through your completed order in a small brown paper carrier type of bag.
On the side wall, there was a superb painting of HMS Albion

Yes, it was Mr Wong who owned The Albion and was indeed CPO on HMS Albion. It was my most favourite Chinese which has now, for me, been superseded by Wing Lee's, and will be so glad if, and when, it re-opens.

I don't think he's opening, again, apparently, his kids don't want to run it.

I used to go round the Pem pubs on a Saturday night in the 80's. We knicknamed the Albion "The Aircraft Carrier". Always had good food from there. Happy times.

Basil Brush:

Thanks for that information. It's very sad indeed if it doesn't re-open as it is/was the best in Pemberton. Their Chinese food and English food were equally excellent.
