CNN,,,, Biased

Started by: Tommy Two Stroke (15393)

For ages now, the American News Network CNN has been running us Brits down, all through the Brexit thing, they were sniping at us, complaining about Brexit, and just about anything else they can think of, and these organiaations are supposed to be 'unbiased' so some editor there does not like Britain, just read the wording in this latest article, even Tonker is not as rude as that.

"It's a country that has just endured national fuel shortages, isolated food shortages, and its government voted this fall to dump untreated sewage onto its famous coastlines.

Oh -- and it has the second highest number of Covid-19 cases in the world.

So who would want to go on vacation in the UK at the moment?
Not many, the figures show"

You supposed CNN to be unbiased?

If the allegations are true how can they be biased if they are correct? They are just stating facts. I know the fuel and food shortages are true but I can't comment on the sewage and covid issues because I know nothing about them?

"How the UK became the sick man of European tourism"

That is the news item headline, which is a snidey dig at what Britain was called in the 1970s, after Whupsy and his mates had brought the country to its knees, the Miners, Power Workers, Dockers, Council Workers, yoo name it, and they were on strike about it in 1979 during the winter of discontent, and that winter was a bloody cold winter, and Britain was then known as the 'Sick Man of Europe'

But Whupsy, yoo reep wot yoo sow, and look what you ended up with in May 1979 'Margaret Thatcher' and it was what you voted for Whupsy

But CNN are always calling Britain, they do me head in with it

I remember Britain being called the sick man of Europe back in the 1960's!

I think it came about as low productivity led to other countries being seen to better the UK.

Thought maybe 'Plague Island' (as said in the link) more concerning.

Well yes, but you can't much lower productivity than what you get when you are on strike can you.

You are right, and I stand corrected, I should have said the 1970s instead of rather than just 1979, but in 1979 during that winter of discontent, there were a lot of strikes, it was a grim time.

It should have been "after Whupsy and his mates had brought the country to its knees, the Miners, Power Workers, Dockers, Council Workers, yoo name it, and they were on strike about it in the 1970s, culminating in 1979 during the winter of discontent"

It is just a wording error, the information in the piece is still sound

If this country is as bad as what everybody seems to be saying it is, how come so called refugees are travelling thousands of miles from Asia, Africa and the middle East through continental Europe to risk their lives in little rubber boats to get here.
I'm prepared to wait until someone replies with the correct answer.

Wrong answer Whups.
If as you say it is much easier to "get a start" in the UK, then why are they coming over here illegally on little rubber boats having chucked all their ID away?
Why are they not coming on planes or proper boats with passports and other documents?
Answer: because they know that the RNLI or the Border patrol will pick them up, ferry them safely to the south coast, then they will be put up in pretty good accomodation until they are ready to be released into the country where they will just disappear into the black economy to earn cash in hand or whatever. They know that the chances of them ever being deported are very slim and that they will have access to the best medical and welfare facilities in the world when they need it.
Try again Whups.

Cheer up. Help may be on the way. John Malone is the major shareholder of the Discovery Channel which is about to take control of CNN. He said on November 19, "I'd like to see CNN restored to what it once was, with real reporters. They certainly don 't have them now."

I am paraphrasing, but that is pretty close.

And plenty domestic commentators also saying the same on TV over this weekend.

One even comments that UK has regained its tag of being 'The Sick Man of Europe'!

The UK is an attractive proposition for economic migrants because we don’t have identity cards. It’s easy to slip into the black economy.
Denmark and Ireland are the only two EU countries that don’t have identity cards.
Foreigners, including economic migrants, can’t work in France without a work permit. To get a work permit you need a passport or ID card.

Chris, the 'class war' is what keeps the wheels of the economy turning. Always has done, always will do. Call it 'the monetary system'.

tts, I am descended from an Anglo-American family.

The two sides: The Limeys and The Septics really do not get along with one another.

It has been asserted that in WW2, that they put more energy into quarrelling with their transatlantic kin than they summoned against their common enemy.

Historical records tend to support that view also.

The Northern Ireland protocol is causing problems with the supply of goods and services, between Northern Ireland and the rest of the UK, it is not just the political opposition from the Unionists in Northern Ireland to the protocol, people and businesses in Northern Ireland are having serious supply problems, because goods cannot travel freely across the Irish Sea, and Britain has 'proposed' a solution to the problem, which is to stop checks on goods entering Northern Ireland, which are for Northern Ireland only, a Green Channel.

And a Red channel for goods which are for onward movement into the Irish Republic and as such the EU, they will continue to be subject to the existing protocol checks.

The British Government are trying to stem the flow of illegal immigrants into this country.

So Ena how does proposing a solution to the Northern Ireland protocol problem, and attempting to take action against illegal immigrants, make us out to be the sick man of Europe ?

The Americans have, and are still having, more problems between North and South than they have with any other nation. Many Americans are of the view that there will eventually be a split along those lines.

The split in my family goes all the way back to the English Civil War. which was the cause of the majority of the clan quitting England for The New World in the first place. Those who did, figured large in the American defeat of the Brits in their war for independence.

CNN and all the other TV outlets save FOX are simply echoing their masters. Obama and Biden have both said publicly that they despise England. So what? Who cares? Hardly anyone is watching them. The American public loves the UK. I haven't checked lately, but the last I heard CNN has about 600,000 viewers at peak TV time - that in a country where viewerships are measured in 10s of millions. They are all liars, and they skip news, and are willing to lose money, if it doesn't suit their left wing agenda. How many people on this site heard on the news yesterday that the diary of one of Joe Biden's daughters says that when she was young, her dad used to make her shower with him and he "touched her inappropriately"? This on top of all the other reports of rape and touching by Biden. Right now the New York Times is blasting the people that exposed the diary, claiming it was stolen. That the President of the USA is a serial pedophile, doesn't bother them.

The majority of Immigrants or should I say economic migrants come here because they know we are a soft touch compared to other European countries.

If we were not, they would be just happy to get into the nearest safe European country like Greece, Italy or Spain etc and not travelled all the way to the English Channel and cross it into what they have been led to believe is a land of milk and honey.

I know I would if I was fleeing a war zone of Africa or Asia, persecution, torture or death!
