What is it like to buy on ebay any problems, or anything I should be aware of? Never done this before although have bought several items from well known names.

I buy off ebay all the time, If an item comes broke or not as described you can return it and the seller has to provide a , returns payment label , So its quite secure, The rules of normal shopping apply, You only get what you pay for, I have found it , ' hit and miss' with stuff you don't know about .So always read the description and fully understand it because, if it is described right but you just don't like it or changed your mind, they will still take it back but, you have to pay the return postage,

I have bought lots on ebay and had no problems, and plenty of bargains, I have sold a lot too, but I stopped selling when the rules changed I am not sure what as changed, but I believe it concerns ebay knowing your bank details as well as paypal.

If returns are not accepted in the listing, you cannot return it unless the item is faulty, not as described or broken. Then you have to provide evidence / photos etc to prove that it is faulty or not as described to obtain a refund. Then it is up to you and the seller to try and come to an agreement. If you cant agree between you then ebay get involved and they make a decision. What they say is final! A bit of a hassle really especially if you buy off the wrong seller. Like anywhere else there are good on line sellers and bad sellers. On the other hand there are good buyers and bad buyers.

I may take a chance. It’s a bit of technical stuff at what I think is a good price from the looks and description of it. It is only when used and tested would any fault show.

I only buy odd and sods off Ebay, and from traders, rather than individuals, and I try and buy from 'premium sellers' and the idea of paying through PayPal, is so that your card and bank details are not passed on to the seller, I think it is a good idea to use PayPal

I've used e bay for donkeys years.I'f you have a dispute pass it back to e bay and you will be refunded,As tts says if you use paypal there is no disclosure of bank details. They are as safe as houses and take funds from your bank account. I use paypal for all my online transactions wherever possible and never had a problem.

Domino, I too have stopped selling because of the new rules so, they must have lost lots of private sellers for the same reason, I wonder why ?

apparently, when you sell something on eBay, now, it goes straight into your bank account, info off one of the grandkids.

I have been buying and selling on Ebay for years without any problems.
Just make sure you read all details properly before you commit.

Thanks all, having slept on it, even though it does appear to be a good buy it doesn’t come up to the spec I want.

Been on for years no major problems really, only buy ,don't sell much now.
They have changed now when you sell an item, and the buyer pays it goes straight in your bank acc, before it went into PayPal within seconds ,now it takes a while longer.
You can still use PayPal to buy items as before.

I have had over 200 transactions on ebay and never really had a problem. Only a purchase that was lost and a replacement item delivered inside 3 days.
Ebay is excellent in my opinion.
