You have made this out to be a 'political' thing, when it was anything but, so how would Labour have done it differently, Yes they should have entered lockdown sooner, but hindsight is a wonderful thing to have, the pandemic happened so quickly that it was hard for the leaders of any country to know what to do for the best, and to order a lockdown of this country on the scale that the scientists were proposing, was a very draconian measure to take, and Kier Stammer would have been just as reluctant to do it, as was Boris Johnson.

I think that the report issued today was 'biased' and I am not saying that as a Tory, because I am not a Tory, I am saying it because I am a me

Yet another case after the event... SHUDDERS.

Should have done this... Should have done that.. There will be an inquiry... Then an inquiry into the inquiry.. Then a final inquiry into the inquiry into the inquiry costing yet more millions which could be better spent elsewhere.

I don't think any country handled it well. It was guess work by everyone. I don't think some countries have come to terms with it yet.

New Zealand handled it brilliantly .
.Jacinda Ardern Prime Minister SUPREME .
Anyone who thinks it was handled well is believing the Tory propaganda just like those who voted for brexit .
Has the red bus money ever seen the light of day .?
Brexit my backside .

The more people they let into this country, the more disease we'll be open to.
It was easier for that Westhoughton Hong Kong couple to enter this country, along with their two dogs, pennyless and homeless, than it is for me to get back home from Spain!

The Conservative handling of the crisis was far from perfect.

However, the thought of labour trying to navigate through the pandemic waters is an absolutely frightening thought.

The lesser of two evils springs to mind.

Agreed Don GB. I'm not a Tory but like you I'm thinking more on the lines that the back stabbing Labour lot would still be dragging their heels now as what to do. No confidence in any Labour people especially their leader the champagne socialist Starmer.

I speak to NZ almost daily and the picture isn't as rosy as some are painting on here. Headline two days ago was " NZ braces for rising Covid cases as expert warns of potential explosion"

So if you know the situation on a daily basis be kind enough to post figures on the overall numbers .

New Zealand has now realised that a zero covid approach is impossible, without keeping their borders closed indefinitely, and even in a country as remote as New Zealand that still won't keep the Covid out completely, a seaman brought in the nasty delta variant of Covid into their country, so now New Zealand is adopting the same approach as the UK and other countries, in tackling Covid by the vaccination route, rather than by the closed borders and lockdown route. If Labour had been in blah blah, it's the Conservatives who are in and they messed up big time. Like Golden Bear says the cronies of this government made a fortune on inadequate useless protection equipment and still you blather on about if Labour would have been in. I posted this because otherwise you would have hidden it under a rock and pretended it hadn't happened. Some of the post are quite frankly pathetic in excusing this shambles

That is an unfair comparison, because for a start New Zealand has a population of 4.9 million and the UK has a population of 65.7 million, and both countries are about the same size, so that is a heck of a difference in population numbers.

If Labour had been in power, and they had in your words had 'messed up big time' would yoo have been skrikin about it like you are doing on here now, or would you have kept your Labour Party supporting gob shut, or should I say kept your Labour Party supporting fingers, away from your keyboard ?

"If Labour had been in blah blah, it's the Conservatives who are in and they messed up big time."

I agree and there is no excuse, the people who's points you disagree with are under no illusion that if it was the Labour party in power it would have been an even worse fiasco. Ask yourself why Corbyn took a battering, inept, unreliable and out of touch with the working class and the new lot are no different. No one could have predicted what would happen with this pandemic.

You have had 12 years of Tory cuts.... you all knew Boris' background and you still voted him in and now you still say HINDSIGHT... i can tell you what Hindsight is. 2017 the closure of the UK’s largest gas storage plant and warnings that the country would face more volatile winter gas prices and is becoming too dependent on energy imports. Its time for some of you lot to take your head out of the sand!!! and it's only going to get worse ...

Grimshaw you sound like a Labour councillor a very bitter one at that, if you're not you should put your hat in the ring and try your luck, I have no doubt with you being a true and 'honest' Labour supporter and 'ex forces' who's been in the trenches and done his bit for Queen and Country you would do well in North Lincs. Or maybe not.
