Sore finger
An expression often used by Chinese people who own/work in chip shops.
They are actually saying "salt and vinegar?" but if you're not an experienced chip shop go-er you will have no idea what they're on about.

All hands to the pumps
Help! The phrase comes from sailing days when a leak in the hull required immediate help in bailing out the incoming seawater. A variant is “all hands and the cook on deck,” meaning the entire ship's roster was needed in an emergency, even the cook, who was never expected to participate in mariner activities.

Revenge is a dish best served cold.

An old, widely used phrase expressing the sentiment that revenge that is delayed, and executed well after the heat of anger has dissipated, is more satisfying than revenge taken as an immediate act of rage.

Ahem.

"A little learning (not knowledge) is a dangerous thing."
Keats.

Full verse:
Wigan born and Wigan bred
Strong in the arm, weak in the head.
(Change to the the city of your choice.)

And you don't get salt and vinegar at the fish and chop shop, Chinese or not. You haven't for years. What you get is a liquid flavored with chemicals and acid that have a similar bite to vinegar. It's lots cheaper. Ask to see the bottle next time. If it's a genuine vinegar bottle, , taste it. Vinegar does not taste salty..
