Topped and Tailed the Land rover today inside and out on this lovely sunny day. I do this once a year if it needs it or not

you're not exactly Jeremy Clarkson are you.

I used to like Land Rovers, but now, I always recall how rude Fred Dibnah was about his. Seems he thought it a real piece of crap.

Often considered gerrin one of them 'forward Control rovers to convert to an off road capable camper.

I worked for a firm in the 1980's and they gave me a landrover as a work vehicle, a landrover defender, noisy , hard to steer , slow , cold and no luxuries , you where lucky to get a steering wheel, I saw it as a punishment to drive on a motorway,

Tom,
Driven them quite a lot and been totally bogged many times. Luckily we used to have an “ emergency crew” that drove the full length of the pipeline every night shutting gates etc. and making sure everyone was towed out if needed.

We've had a few 4 wd vehicles in Spain over the last 14 years.

The best = Mitsubishi Pajero.
Contender = Toyota Land Cruiser
The worst = Jeep

Best for picking the kids up from school = Range Rover
Best for hairdressers = Land Rover Freelander
Best for discovering you've got no money left after one years ownership = Discovery!

Are you off road in your gaff in Spain, then?

Yes! and No!
My farm's 'off-grid'. Although it has a water supply now, so I don't have to collect it myself with the trailer, but my Pajero is used for building materials when we have no van. I'm also in town.
My mate has had a Pajero for the last ten years and has used it hard. He's four kilometres from town, up a mountain, and has pulled water, stone, sand etc. by the ton and it's still going strong. Everything else has died the death!

I have a Ford Fiesta over there too. They're both liable for confiscation in June, though, so I'm going to transfer the Pajero over to Spanish registration. The Fiesta will be scrapped, unfortunately.
We're going over in three weeks to try to get the paperwork sorted, and do some work!

?? I've been a Land Rover for many a year
My reputation now trashed by that man on 'Top Gear'
Deserted by drivers, it now seems perhaps
They gone in their droves to buy stuff from the Japs

And it's No, Nay, Never...... .... ? ?

I tried yesterday and got the same. It used to be able to handle text symbols but, since the format changed, it seems it can't!

By the way, are you SURE you're a Land Rover?

Back in the 1970's, a buddy of mine had one of the Series1 Land Rovers: the one with its headlights dangerously close together.

His technique for cleaning the interior was simply to open the doors, and train the garden hose onto the interior, having first covered seats so as there was dry place to sit!

The other day decides to get the pressure washer out to clean the wheels on the car then washed and waxed the car. Today after the light rain and the car has dried it looks like the sand from the desert was all over the car

Same here, me car gets covered in crap, and at one time it only happened during a rare weather phenomenon, when sand from the sahara blew up from the south, and covered the country with sand, but now it is happening all the time, and some say the dust is coming from the poo farm in Bamfurlong

BB, I'm glad you liked it, I'm not a petrol yed so did't watch Top gear much but, I do like Jeremy Clarkson for his wit and comedy value , he also sails close to the wind on some taboo subjects and. I give him 10 out of 10 for his actions that got him sacked, the bloke he hit has been asking for it for years but, no one else dared,

I've had Freelanders for the last dozen years and still have one of the last ones made (just like Billinge Biker). Magnificent vehicles and I've only ever had to put tyres and a battery on them. Just the right size they are, as many 4x4's are too big and cumbersome. Ideal for chucking stuff in to go to the tip, dealing with the little snow we have and full of all the necessary gadgets (heated wheel/seats/camera etc). Reasonably priced too and don't depreciate much after a number of years.

I looked to change a couple of years ago and considered the Discovery Sport and Jaguar F Pace but too many of these type of cars are "samey" these days and the rooflines slope towards the rear. I like them to look like a Lego brick.

I might investigate the new Defender 90 in a couple of years when good used ones filter onto the market but then again I might just keep my Freelander forever. I love it!

BB, I recently spotted one just like yours but with chrome door handles, wasn't yours was it?

The only downside is that I need to change my occupation to hairdresser according to Tonker.

That's good BB, it looked far too blingy.

Also, I would rather keep British workers in jobs.
