Hi Roy, my Mum went to The Royal Armouries in Leeds about 6/7 years ago and got our family coat of arms and where our family surname originated from.

Yeh, mine's two meyt pies rampant and crossed knife and fork!

had ours done 35 yrs ago somewhere in wales.both my maiden and married names.like yours though mollie.

Roy, they are selling them by the dozen on Wigan Market.

I thought they were only for people with some sort of standing in life or wealth,
Not people who are "pey's above sticks".

I have looked up information for my surnames crest. Come's up with a different design each time. In my opinion most of the sites, stalls on craft/antique fairs etc. Selling 'family crests' are a con. Surely everyone with the same surname isn't related????? If you, and some one else, who has the same surname, get a crest. It will be the same.

I turned my other half into a scottish Laird last year.
It cost me 20 quid on ebay, he now officially owns one square foot of land in scotland, entitling him to use the title Laird ..........how daft is that.He has title deeds the lot! Now I can call him Laird ass without him taking offence I suppose...

family crests, and coat-of -arms, yeahh, i aint boasting, but i am a direct descendant of william the conquerer, its true, thats why all the man children in our family are call bill. my mother has relations going back to MOLL FLANDERS..(maybe that explains away some things??)
all this info cost us 100 quid ten years ago.i suspect the above info was to make me feel cool, whilst i got the shaft.

Billy before you start spouting about your ancestry,check Wikipedia. As for the authenticity of my family coat of arms,it couldn't be anything but true because the motto is "Honesty is the best policy"

Well Ron when I type our family name in to anything it comes up with the same tale and the same logo and it as been doing from when I first tried it in dublin in the 60s.

If you cut and paste the links into your browser You wll see they are two different sites. Each site shows a different Coat of Arms for the HUNT surname.
If you use one site obviouslty it will come up with the same C.O.A.
My point is, different web sites show different Coats Of Arms. Also read the posting from the OFFICIAL College Of Arms web site.
Again I'll say, it's a con. Don't think that if you have bought a C.O.A. from a site or stall etc., it is YOUR coat of arms for YOUR family.

Coats of Arms, what's the point of them these days? In days of yore, they may have mattered, knights going into battle, etc. they would carry a flag. Most people can find a coat of arms if they want to. They're really meaningless.

Anyway Dings I suppose that your coat of arms appeals to you but I've got a suspicion that there is something missing and the sign should read "The Three Bells",what was a Magee's house in Bolton,but there are those who know their heraldry better than I and may confirm your claim and if does ring true I will retract my statement.

Im only saying what Ive experienced Roy and when I type in my surname into these coat of arms sites they always come up with the same logo and the same tale that surrounds it.

Not that Im bothered like but it dose, if someone else gets a differnt every time that there look out I can only say what they say about mine.

Yo Roy, Picked that up in Lancaster Castle 1995 cost me a quid along with a write up on the name---'Load of rubbish'
Surprising though looked the coat of arms up in a few places and they all come up with the same pic. They all must be "Magee Marshall's"Drinkers
