has anyone been on a canal boat holiday- no not in wigan ha. i would love to do it but hubby says its too expensive can anyone enlighten me

How bout houseboats Maddy?? Where I live there are houseboat holidays that take you all over the Okanagan...beautiful stuff..You would have to come to BC Canada though. Well worth it

Many years ago we went on a boating holiday on the Norfolk Broads. I believe those boats are more comfortable than canal boats; canal boats have to be narrower of course. It was one of the best holidays we ever had, we were lucky with the weather, it was during one of the best summers in history for the UK.

it certainly is expensive to have a boating holiday. For just a weekend you will expect to pay at least £400.

Maddy, for many years we had narrow boat holidays, then when we retired we took shares in one. We travelled all over the country in our years on the boats. You can hire one for a weekend as a taster, but if you can afford it, I can recommend it. We have just been watching two series on narrow boats on Discovery Real time, they are running another called Water World if you want to see it. It was a wonderful experience to moor in the place where i played as a child, to ring my brother from there and he felt the same. Sadly, we are too decrepit now to continue, but I still miss it. Boating people are great. The pubs are great, and the boats have all mod cons. if you can afford it, try it.
