HELP, PLEASE - Ince, Cemetery, Warrington Road

Started by: JM_Wigan (126)

Hello all,

I need an answer to a question. I am having problems locating alot of family members in Ince Cemetery, well not quite right, I know they are in there but the area they are buried in does not show up on the plan. Religion R.C., Graves 'B', (Lower numbers) such as R.C. B31.

I have been down a few times now with a plan and just can not locate where the area would be.

Does anyone know if this area has been covered over or moved, or is just marked incorrectly on the plan.

Thankyou for you time and help,
James

The Rev David Long should be able to help you with that request, he was the vicar there until his retirement. Can you help Rev, other than that I would go to the Church and ask them to show you the location.

On this site, go to STUFF, then Ince Cemetry Index. New page opens...on right of page is a link to access all cemetery plans. It appears that Ince cemetery is different to Lower Ince cemetery.... R.C. B section is in Lower Ince cemetery, maybe you have been in the wrong one ?

Hi,

I have looked at the Indexs on the site, used them alot and located many headstones in both Ince Cemetery and Wigan/Lower Ince Cemetery/Crem.

I had considered that I may have looked in the wrong one so have checked many times and I am convinced I am in the right one.

The plans do show R.C. B but it starts from 166-253. Both RC A & RC C both have sections that start from 1 upwards as you can see if you look at the plan in the bottom left corner but not RC B.

If the Rev can help that would be great.

They are the high numbers Aitch, they start at B166, JM wants B31.

That's all the RC numbers Dodger, I did look for low ones but like JM, I am at a loss to find any low ones, when I had the same problem with Hindley cemetery, I asked one of the maintenance men, who came out with a plan and took me straight to where I wanted to see, same with St Luke's at Orrell, just ask and all will be revealed, hope The Rev Long replies JM, if any one knows, he will

JM When I was looking for my grandma's grave in Ince, I went in the office and they found the plot number. Unfortunately there was no headstone but at least I found it.

JM

I had a similar problem finding a family grave RC B60. Ince Cemetery has two sections marked as DISS B with similar numbers. Fortunately my RC B60 grave has a stone and was found in DISS-B 1-142. This is at the front entrance to the RC Chapel. Looks as if this section should be RC B 1-142 and wrongly marked as Diss B. Hope this helps finding your family graves.
