Hobbycraft

Started by: JR (595)

I had to deliberate as to where this post should go. Perhaps hobbies? However, I decided on general as there isn't much happening elsewhere; very static for the last few months.
Moving on I was very happy just a short while ago when Hobbycraft opened a store at Robin Retail Park... but today found that it will close in September. I looked up on the web and yes they are having a review and closing stores. But why do the major stores frequently choose to close their stores in Wigan. It's annoying. Robin Park was incredibly busy today so I can't understand why it's frequently Wigan that suffers.

This is more to do with Places, but General is used a lot more than the other boards.

Anyway, I've no clue, JR, except perhaps Robin Park is a little too out of the way for people from, say, Hindley, Platt Bridge; that area of Wigan.

It's more accessible for folk from Pemberton, Ashton, etc on this side, but other than that, I don't know. It is a pity though. Robin Park is very handy for me, but I haven't had the need to use it in years now.

Hobbycraft like all major stores are not making enough profit and are now closing at least 9 stores across the country to help the survival of their other 99 stores. Always found them to be expensive and like every thing else in life products can be found on line cheaper. There will be many factors as to why businesses close in and around Robin Park/Wigan . Robin Park is a night -mare to get onto by car and it is not clearly marked out also due to them cramming more shop units onto the site car parking is at a premium. Last week I went to Currys at St Helens because it was easier to get to than Robin Park

The car park at Middlebrook is far better and might explain why many from Wigan preferred to shop there, but avoid Saturdays in the football season when Bolton Wanderers are at home as that can also be a nightmare!
