Yes, supping cowd tay!
Can you not put it in your kitchen fridge, or stand it in cold water? Or, depending on how much you want to sup, put a couple or three of cans/bottles in your freezer for a short time.

Thank you Jathbee , Cold lager is far better chilled because ,it has no taste but, real beer/ale must be served at room temperature, typically 14 degrees to enjoy the flavour,

"Cold lager is far better chilled because ,it has no taste"
It has. It tastes like piss!

Yoo are both right

Lager is the devil's brew 'cos it makes you fart. I like a couple of bottles of Ruby Beer as it suits my taste buds so, I'm glad you've got your new fridge Tom. Enjoy it, and all who sail in her.

Phew, thanks for that Mollie, I thought we had mice in our house, now I'm guessing the squeaking was coming from elsewhere

Tonker is right when he says Lager is piss, especially the one called Carling!
If you have been weaned on Magee's BB, you will know what I mean!

Glad to put your mind at ease.

We were drinking Kilkenny Irish Red Ale last Sunday night, in O'Brien Tavern, Limoges. That's good stuff!
Replied: 17th Jul 2025 at 22:53

Owd Codge, I used to drink Carling because it was cheap and, when they started hiking the price, I experimented and found out that, There is lots of other drinks much better, The shops are now offering carling much lower because, Other folks like myself have moved on and realized, Carling is knats pizz and they can keep it,, I go for, Speckled Hen , Dunbar, Spitfire and brewdog beers, more costly but, much much better,,,,
Replied: 17th Jul 2025 at 23:02

I've tried that Spitfire and it's not bad at all. The one I like best, although others may disagree, is Hobgoblin Red because it's not too strong.

Glad that you have seen the light and joined the ranks of the real ale ale drinkers.
And real ale means what it says, REAL ALE!
p.s. Tesco have got a real ale promotion on at the moment, four bottles of different priced real ale beers ranging from 3.4 alc to 6.5 alc for £7.50

I normally used to drink Bitter but cans are hard to find most places sell John Smiths or Boddingtons in Widget cans which are have a terrible taste and you don't even get a pint[:( A lot of the bottle beers are Pale ale again not to my taste.

Peter P
Where are you going for a drink as many of the pubs and supermarkets I visit sell a variety of real ales ie Amber, Blonde, Golden, Ruby etc in addition to pale ale which more often than not is IPA (Indian Pale Ale)
And the best pubs to go for real ale is Weatherspoons where there is always many visiting ales in addition to the house beers like Abbott, Doom Bar and they cheaper than other pubs and especially restaurants.
Hope it helps!

Peter, I used to sell a lot of Cain's bitter, it was very popular and is good too!
On the way home on Sunday, we were confined to the hotel bar, so could only get 330ml bottles of Leffe as that's all they had what we'd heard of. €5 a bottle. That's close on €10 a pint!
I picked the 'Leffe Brune', which turned out to be a very tasty drink. My mate picked the 'blonde' which, as you know, is wishy-washy pilsner piss!

I'll stick to strongbow.

I would have stuck to a glass of Cola if they are charging that that for a 330ml bottle of Laffe urine!

D'you know what, Owd Un, I'd much prefer a glass of ice-cold Pepsi than any beer in hot weather! (does that make me a puff? )
At the moment, I'm into some Ginger Beer what they've got in Farm Foods, 99p a 2 litre bottle.
Straight out of the fridge, it's greeeeat! BUT, don't breath in through your nose when you're taking a drink of it. It's strong stuff. Recommended!
Replied: 18th Jul 2025 at 16:07

I'm not really a beer drinker. Never liked the stuff since I got very drunk on it when I was young.
The name has just popped into my head. It was called Barley wine but I was told it was beer and not wine.
It tasted really nice but boy was I drunk after a couple of bottles and they were only small.
I was in big trouble with my dad. Not only was I sick on the garden, apparently I quite rude to him for telling me off. I wasn't allowed out for two weeks. That was the worst punishment ever for me.
I was also under age.
Replied: 18th Jul 2025 at 17:51

I'm not surprized you were ill off that Jathbee, Its rocket fuel and at 9% it is the strength of wine, beer is typically 3.5 to 4 % then you get premium beers at 5% and anything over that is for crack heads and druggies,
Replied: 18th Jul 2025 at 18:05

Omg. I think I must fall into the crack head category.
I certainly cracked my head when I took the tumble downstairs.
Replied: 18th Jul 2025 at 18:23

Flippin' heck. 9%. The highest proof I've drunk is 17% which is Bailey's Irish Cream at Christmas time, but it's not drunk by the bottle full at a time. Just a few little sips.
I wouldn't drink Coca Cola for a King's ransom. The company itself has boasted that it can be used to clean their garage floors and toilet cleaner. Take a copper coin and drop it into a little Cola, and it comes out looking brand new because of the phosphoric acid content in the drink. Imagine what it can do to your stomach lining! Not sure if Pepsi has the same acid content.
Replied: 18th Jul 2025 at 18:29

Never acquired the taste for either cola or pepsi. Awful stuff, in my opinion.
