It absolutely lashed it down here this afternoon.
Everywhere flooded, including town. Lightening and thunder, it was warm at the same time. It was crackin’ t’ flags, that’s the raindrops!
So, my mate Angel did the four of us a Sunday roast dinner on a Saturday, because he can, and it was good. Then the sun came out again and it was soon back in the 30’s, so we had a few drinks with others who we know.
We’re driving home tomorrow morning, staying in either Limoges or Orleans then ferry on Monday. We’ll be home late, laaaaike!

PS: the storm will probably follow us home, so expect rain next week!

I attempted to sit outside with me Code Book but, a family just up the road thought it would be lovely if they shared their very LOUD thumping music with everyone in Wigan and Manchester, so reluctantly I went back in but, to be fair, it was too hot for me anyway.

Last night when I left work the temp reading in my car was 96F so it was stifling. I never bother with the AC because all it does is blow warm air in, so I opened the driver's and passenger windows to let a breeze through. The temp dropped, but only down to 85 so it was still very hot.

Problem is with extremely hot weather, it brings out the numpties in their vehicles and, maybe, through lack of concentration they do the most stupid things. I've started to think my car has become a magnet!

On Friday I invented the ' Tonkerbell' I was riding my bike down the canal bank and my bell had seized and did't work so on approaching a dog walker a shouted, " Baaaaaike coming " , It worked Laaaaaike a charm,

LOL! You're so inventive, Tom!

Tonker's right about the weather changing next week though. Expect thunder and lightning on Monday, then a little rain on Tuesday but, fear not, it will pick up again after that, although not as hot as today or tomorrow.

Tom, I thought you had more sense than to head to the seaside when it's so hot. A nice walk around some cool woods and spotting some wildlife would have been lovely.

And yes Mollie you are right, We always do a 'Toms tour' on a Saturday and the choices today was,
Fleetwood, Southport, St Annes, picking blackcurrants in Vividor woods,
I cut strips of paper with each choice and Mrs Plum draws the folded paper, Southport was the random pick,

picking blackberries would have been a better choice but, Luck of the draw,

That's a good plan you have there. My partner and I used to venture off somewhere every Sunday afternoon, weather permitting, and we ended up in all sorts of places; some of which we weren't planning on going, but taking wrong exits off the motorway. LOL!

We once ended up in Liverpool. It was a lovely day, and I forget where we were meant to go, but we were close to Albert Dock, so we spent the afternoon there looking at the boats and just walking around. Ah, those were the days. I took photos and made a little Photostory with them on my computer, which I watch every now and again. A nice reminder of a happy time gone by.

The other day I nipped into the greenhouse both the door and roof vent where open. The thermometer was showing 44 deg "C" which is 112 deg "F".Took some plants outside and sprayed them with water before they wilted. All the windows open in the bungalow and curtain's/blinds closed.

Many people believe that opening windows during heatwaves always brings relief from high temperatures. In reality, when the temperature outside is higher than inside, opening windows can worsen the situation by bringing hot air into the interior. In such conditions, it is better to keep windows closed and use curtains or blinds to limit the heating of rooms by sunlight.
One of the times when opening windows is truly beneficial is at night. The temperature outside usually drops, allowing cooler air to enter the house. To maximize this effect, it is worth opening windows in the evening and closing them in the morning before the temperature rises again. This strategy helps maintain a pleasant indoor climate without the need for air conditioning.

I googled that

In my house all cavity walls original and extensions insulated. When I decided to open the attic up all attic floors between bedroom ceilings etc. insulated. Roof above attic done as well. It certainly has paid off given this hot weather. Not quite so easy to judge in the winter but am sure there is some benefit.
