Well did you ever……

……..see two squirrels sunbathing. A short while ago I spotted two of them lying on their backs, feet in the air in full sunshine. At least that looked what they were doing. I then thought it must be heat exhaustion but after a few minutes off they went as bouncy as ever.

Squirrels will find a patch of ground that is cooler than the air around them and lie flat to cool down. They are splooting.

They will have just had sex, that's what we humans do, but we will sometimes light a cig.

They do it to cool down in hot weather, also known as splooting as First Mate mentioned, and exposing their bellies allows body heat to be released;, but it just goes to show how some people's minds work when they don't know what they're talking about.

I was only joking when I said they had just had sex, yes I knew they were having a sploot, I'm having one right now and it's only 8am. so I think I'll be having a few more sploots before the day is out.
