The best thing to do is knock on the door of somebody who's had their's rendered and ask them if they are happy with it and who did it,

A better job than render is to replace the face brick.

Hi Cindy, have a look at Enhanced rendering and plastering solutions on facebook. His name is Neil Davies and you will see pictures of his work and comments from his customers. I have used him myself for plastering and he did a great job. I have also seen a house round the corner from me which he rendered and that looks great too.

Cindy, I can recommend someone who does rendering. My partner was a highly trained plasterer/renderer and his son worked alongside him.
It would be worth giving him a call for a quote. His name is Gordon Anthony Marland on 07766 911788. I found him on the Internet. Sadly, I've been out of touch with him since his dad died, but if you tell him Mollie has recommended him, he'll know who you mean.

hello Cindy , I'm not an expert on structural problems but, There might be a problem and just rendering over it, won't fix it , best to seek some professional advice,

Its been like that for a number of years, When I have it painted the painter fills the crack in, But this time I thought I would have it Re rendered.

Cindy. Having looked at your photos more closely I, like Tom, am no expert, but those cracks in the walls could be some sort of structural damage. A painter may "fill in the cracks," but no decent plasterer or renderer would do that as the cracks could get wider and deeper, thereby splitting the rendering.
I know it may be expensive but, if I were you, I'd consult a local Structural Engineer for advice before going to the expense of rendering. It may be money well spent and save further damage to your house.

I showed this photo to Dion Dublin and he agrees with me that he best thing to do would be to move.

Hi Cindy. So sorry about that, but I'm not surprised. They were never out of work when he and his dad worked together, but I'm glad for him that he's still as busy as ever.

Cindy, in what area is your house? Some areas are prone to subsidence for various reasons. One thing's for certain, if you don't have it sorted, you or your beneficiaries will lose out if and when it comes to be sold as it will be classed as unmortgageable.

tonker Standish is where We live. Like I said earlier cracks have been in for 40 years+.

Anywhere near Ludlow Street / Pepper Lane? I ask because we had a house there a few years ago and it had the external steel rope wall ties around it. The area is prone to subsidence on older houses due, probably, to there being shallow mining activity behind the houses and the area being heavily faulted and wet. That's where they've just built the new estate too!
