Wigan Maoris R.L. team c.1912 era

A friend of mine, who is the archivist for the Wigan Rugby League club Has asked me if I could find any information about an amateur R.L. team. around 1912, Maybe from the Whelley area? called WIGAN MAORIS. Has anyone got any info. or photos of the team?
Back in 2009 someone mentioned the team in a post, and he said he had a photograph that he would put on the site but never did..
