STREWTH!

I don’t like to state the obvious, but my godfathers, it’s been hot today. It was 80F in my car going to work, then 97F coming home.
Heat like this can cause drivers to lose concentration and/or grumpy, both of which are dangerous.
How has everyone here coped today? There’s more to come as well, so be prepared.

I was in Southport and it was a good day and strangely, no sea breeze, we had a pub lunch, a walk about then another few pints but disappointed that Elvis did not show up

I imagine it was a little cooler on the coast, Tom. Went out to the shop and then petrol at half eight and it was still 75F.
I love the warmer weather and hate the cold and damp, but this reminds me of the summers of 1976 and 2020. It's only been one day so far, and it will get cooler next week, but we can never quite get a happy medium!

To my memory yes, I agree 1976 and also 1984 and 2018 was also a long hot summer, 2020 was a year in limbo because it was hot but, we had to stay at home so. no memories of days at the sea side or fun in the sun has stuck in my hardrive, I did however get out on my cycle ( as per exercise of course) but it was a quiet year

Will watch your video in a minute.
In 1976 I was living in Worcester so remember it well. In 1984 I was back living here, but I don't recall that year at all really.
2020 I was furloughed off work from April to December and I was able to sit outside pretty much every day until October with me little code book, but it wasn't as hot as this. It would have been lovely had I not lost a lot of (to me) money with not being able to go to work.

I’ve just got back from town and, passing the pharmacy, the sign said 27 degrees, that was at 11:35pm.
Tomorrow it’s forecast 37 degrees.
I’m making an early start tomorrow and finishing about 11am.

That's mad weather, Tonker. It was 80F here this afternoon, and it's still 68F.
37F is just short of 100F (98.6) so you stay cool, and safe.

Mollie 1984 was the year of the miners strike and, It stuck in my head because, I was working for Sent Hellins council on houses changing the galvanized water tanks in the attics to plastic and the heat in the attics was unbearable, Also the miners living in them were grateful for the scrap lead and copper that was coming out of their houses, It was supposed to go back to the council depot but, somehow it just went missing

Wow, the heat in those attics must have been unbearable. I only vaguely remember the miners' strike as it's something that none of my family or friends were involved with, so it's not stuck in my memory. Can't have been an easy time for them though.

And todays the longest day of the year, and it's hot LINK
But later on there's going to be thunderstorms, with loads of rain

APLS, today is/was Midsummer's Day, so the longest day of the year, so now we're on the downward spiral into dark nights again.
I knew you'd be thrilled to pieces at the prospect, but for many of us all it leads to is a gloomy time with wind and rain to look forward to once more.
Ah well, cheer up folks! Remember we’re British!
