I'm back

From my recent jaunt to the brass band concert in Greenfields and the follow on trip to the Yorkshire Dales which, Tonker will argue that, I was actually in the Westmorland Dales but, A dale is an upland and downland undulating roller coasting ride and no matter where it is, Its bloody hard work on a cycle, even an E cycle like mine, I was huffin' and puffin' like a stream train and, felt the thrill of , getting out there feeling the wind ,rain and nature,
There will be a video to follow but now , I need to get some kip , catch you all laters, ZZZzzzzzzzzz,

Wensleydale is not only cheese, it is a fabulous part of the world and as for up and down roads it takes some beating!
Replied: 17th Jun 2025 at 09:17
Wensleydale is not part or ever has been part of the Westmorland Dales which tonker has been on about!
It always has been part of what was known as the West Riding of Yorkshire, which now is West Yorkshire

Tom
Yoo might find this video interesting, I know that you once said that you have a separate tent for doing this sort of thing in LINK
Replied: 17th Jun 2025 at 19:38

Thanks for that link Slaps, I too have tried many different ways and now I'm using a self made folding seat,
In traveling mode a back seat is built on a box with a loo seat, You fit a bin liner in the box, Do your stuff followed by the paper work then. pull the bag out and knot it and look for a suitable doggy bin to dispose of it or, If you're in the wild, dig a hole and empty the contents in the hole, not the bag though cos, the plastic won't compost down,

Tom, you make me giggle sometimes the way you phrase things. "Do your stuff followed by the paper work ....." Very politely put, and you're very eco-friendly as well as regards plastic bags.

In the early sixties when I and family went camping in the two roomed frame tent, we had a small one person tent, a toilet tent. It worked like this. First a quite deep hole was dug, the toilet tent went over this. To use the toilet we had bought a wooden toilet seat attached legs to it, positioned it over the hole. When finished some of the soil from the hole was dumped over. End of holiday the hole was filled in. No trace of what had happened to be seen.

yes Anne, that also is a well tried and tested method, First job is to scape the top turf off and save it, then after the holiday replace the turf, If you revisit the spot next year, There will be a fine bed of roses growing there, Its nature rewarding you,

So I went on from Greenfield the village which was very busy to Ravonstonedale which is not busy at all but
has green fields

That was very relaxing to watch, thanks Tom.
Replied: 17th Jun 2025 at 22:35

you're welcome Mollie, nature is so relaxing to get in amongst it, No noise, no fumes but, lots of wild life to watch and enjoy,
Replied: 17th Jun 2025 at 22:42

I enjoy watching your videos as they're my only means of "getting out and about."
When are you off on your travels again? Next week is going to be mega hot, so not recommended for strenuous work.
Replied: 17th Jun 2025 at 22:52

if the weather is going hot, Then I will be heading back to the Dales, there is always wind and the threat of rain up there, All those touristy places are not for me, I might go tree hugging in Wales, I dunno if you ever tried this but, Hug a tree bare footed and you will experience a connection with nature that you will enjoy, Its not recommended where you can be watched, It spoils the moment,
not a lot of people know this,,,,

I'll have to take your word for that Tom.
Thursday it's forecast for 80F, hotter Sat and Sun, then in the mid to high 70s the rest of the week.

Don't leave this world wondering Mollie, Tree's live longer than us then, have an extended life as a floor board or a roof support or even a violin and make people happy long after they get cut down,
Replied: 17th Jun 2025 at 23:39

True Tom, and pencils and paper is produced from them, furniture, and many other things. I don’t doubt you get a lot of satisfaction from that but, if I’m lucky and can sit with trees around me, I can also feel a connection to nature through their beauty. It sometimes makes me wonder how long they’ve stood in that very spot and, if they could speak, what could they reveal?
There’s a long avenue on the way to Southport and I used to love it when we got there. It was like a temple of trees arching over the whole road. Do you know the road I mean?
Trees are one of the most needed commodities in the world, so should be respected, and not for idiotic morons to carve their names into, like “Kez luvs Kaz”, or “Mozzer wuz Here.”

It was 34 degrees when I got here yesterday. First thing I did was water my young trees, they were peggin’ ouwt laaaake! Then my new grape vines, but two seem to be dee-ud. I’ll do some more later on when it cools down a bit.
I was out with two Worsley Mesnesers and a Spring Viewer last night. There’s at least eight, maybe nine Wigan (area) ers here at the minute. I’ll probably meet up with the others later!

I'm going to see Elvis tomorrow in Southport , He does a turn on Sunny days in the outside bar under the pier near the big carousel , Its a little known fact that since his disappearance in 1977 he has a one room flat in Southport and treats the people there to his singin' and moves, although his moves are a little stiff, he still shines,
I won 3 prizes in a waffle, 1st prize was £100, 2nd prize tickets and 3rd was train fare there,
So its a one for the money
two for the show
three to get ready, and Go Go Go

Watch out for queues of traffic, Tom. Folk will be crowding to get on the beach so they can turn their skin into wrinkly crepe paper in the 82F it's going to be.
Give Elvis a big kiss from me!

Alexia is giving a yellow warning for , transport chaos because the tarmac is turning to treacle and the railway lines will buckle , I'll be the bloke with a knotted hanky on his yed,,,,,

I know, and the amber warning will be in place for the next few days at least. I just hope dog owners have the brains to keep their pets in, otherwise their little feet will be burned.

Mollie, Did I ever mention that Elvis is a personal friend of mine and during the covid do da, He came to my house and clapped for the NHS for the good work they did

Seen that one, Tom.
Tonker: From what little I know of Spain, it's quite hot there through the summer months so they're more accustomed to the heat than we are as we get so little of it, but you are right about "us lot".
Over here all we hear most of the year is: "ooh, in'it 'ot," "ooh, in'it cowd."
For myself I'm a bit worried that the heat will affect my breathing nowadays, so I'll have to keep sticking me yed in the fridge at work, or in a wash basin wi' cowd watter for oxygen!

Well my gang and me will be in Southport and a dip in the sea will be a bus ride from the promenade so, A pub is a better alternative ,,,
