On the other hand, they might be turning it into a Mosque, Islamic community centre and school like they have done with other non profit making hotels in many other towns and cities of the country!

If there are contractors in there. Why are most of the bedroom lights lit at 10.30pm??? Some with the windows open??

I was told today from a RELIABLE SOURCE that the Oak Hotel (or whatever its called now?) Is all lit up at night because it is ready, at the drop of a hat. To take in any asylum seekers, if the government can't find them alternative accommodation...

Only surprised that the present government has not considered turning Brocal House into accommodation for immigrants as it is not making much effort in finding jobs for the local workshy judging by the number of fit and able people spending their time these days in the Supermarkets, Stores and the town centre cafes, pubs and restaurants of Wigan!

And I was told ‘BY A MORE RELIABLE SOURCE’ that ongoing works to completely refurb the hotel continue, despite delays caused by the poor workmanship of a previous contractor.
Planned opening date of August as a hotel is being aimed for

Just a reminder .......

When Labour 'got in', they were "astounded" at what they discovered the 'government' were doing.
They were "astounded" at the fact that 'the government' were keeping over 5,000 empty hotel rooms 'in reserve' to house illegal immigrants.
They were, indeed, 'aghast'!

But, what has been done about it? Has it been stopped?
No! It's been increased!

Watch it again ....... HERE!

wigvet Not saying it isn't true . but I've been passed many times recently and never seen any sign of any workmen, vehicles are rubbish in skips.? which you would see if any refurbishment was being carried out..AND why are all the lights on and some of the windows open at 11.00pm?

More to the point, why aren't all utilities shut off at the end of the contractors' working day? It sounds a bit fishy to me. Are the workmen making themselves at home there?

Handsomeminer

The only thing your beloved leader Sir kier's and his sidekick Rachel is doing is upsetting many of the retired and present non workshy who voted Labour by cutting benefits and raising taxes which are more akin to the actions of the Tory Party than a "Socialist" one!

The night watchman is probably doing his job.

First Mate, I was responding to a possible scenario to this question - most bedroom lights lit and some windows open late at night.

Of course, it could be a night watchman, but presumably the premises have been fitted with emergency lights to come on at nightfall, and why have some windows open at all, especially as it's so cold at night? Don't they normally walk around with a torch? Just a thought.

I remember attending a wedding there about 15 years ago.
And believe you me, that was a top place.
The bride and groom actually got married there on the premises, and it wasn't cheap to stay there overnight.

The meal and the evening buffet could not be faulted, and the layout, cleanliness and the decoration of the whole hotel was absolutely perfect.

Ive never been in there since, but I believe it has somehow been "neglected" and standards have declined which is a shame.

It deserves to be brought back to what it was initially intended for. A hotel that would attract people to the town with overnight accomodation. Ideal for weddings, functions, conferences etc

The Indians send signals from the rocks above the pass,
the cowboys take position in the bushes and the grass,
the squaw is with the corporal, she is tied against a tree,
she doesn't mind the language, it's the beatings she don't need.
She lets loose all the horses when the corporal is asleep
he wakes to find the fire's dead and arrows in his hats
and Davy Crockett rides around and says
"it's cool for cats"!
It's Cool for Cats (coooool for caaaaats)!
