Is it any wonder.

I have refused to pay my TV licence for the past three years .. because of the one sided boggoted views of the BBC and the gross amounts they pay the so called celebrities....what tickles me now is that ITV and all the terrestrial channels cannot produce one advertisement without the compulsory Ethnic...black...variant of both as being normal snowflake Woke mentality viewing that English people can recognise.....I won't be paying it EVER....

Well, I was under the impression that once a pensioner turns 75, then there was no longer a need for a TV licence. However, on checking that out, it isn't true. You have to be 75 years old or older, AND receive Pension Credit.

There are only three TV programmes I watch on a regular basis - two on ITV, and one on BBC, as I only have terrestrial TV, and it's not fair. It's as if they think because I don't get Pension Credit, then I must be rolling in it, which I'm not.

So, Mr Biker, I can understand your reasoning, but I'm the kind of person who would get caught for not having one, so I'll still have to pay.

I can tell you now from a learned fried of mine who works in the Manchester Law courts, There has never been a conviction for,

The Guardian and Birmingham Live both report that nearly 1,000 people are prosecuted each week in Britain for non-payment of the licence fee. Of these prosecutions 70% are women with Tara Casey, a lawyer for the Women’s Justice Initiative, telling The Guardian “the disproportionality is getting worse”.

Thing is, the only company that demands the TV licence is the BBC as it's the licences that fund them, whether you watch BBC or not. The others are funded from advertising, so it's a lot of money to pay towards a channel that you rarely watch.

The threats of fines can only be established if an inspector comes into your home and sees that you have a TV, but you are not obliged to allow them in but, if they push their way in, they can be arrested for trespass.

Mind you, even with technology as it is today, I would be surprised if they can pinpoint every single home in the country that has a device to receive, be it TV, computer, iPad or any other device capable of tuning in.

A free television licence being just one of the many perks that those on Pension Credit can get with many never having worked or have had any inclination to work for a living or paid a penny in taxation etc get the benefits!

It's us former honest and hard working people who have paid all our dues and demands who have ended up being the mugs in old age!

TV detector vans were a con
The licence fee is a money making rip off ..They have wasted a lot of money in postage sending me toothless threats....get yourself like me a Ring video doorbell....look who's calling....then simply ignore them. It will be scrapped sooner or later ..millions don't pay it ...

Anyone who doesn't pay the TV license should be jailed

My thoughts are that those who are paying are seeing their fees going up
because of those that don't pay.
BBC radio sacked a lot of presenters and merged a lot of local stations in the evenings to try to save money. Where could you get entertainment for 50p a day or round about that amount.

Was the TV licence changed a good while back to include the likes of ITV, channel 4, Sky etc? Now if you watch ANY live Tv you should have a licence.

Wouldn't surprise me in the future they change it to a Digital licence so you have to have one even if you just watch the subscription services like Netflix.

Scorpion: Yes. You have to have a TV licence if you have any device that can receive live TV broadcasts.

"not had a tv license for over 20 yrs, also don't have a tv.not missed it for a second"

I haven't had a TV either for 14 years, but read above what I explained to Scorpion.

There was a time though that, if you didn't have a TV, you didn't need a licence, but that changed a few years ago because of the new technology of computers, iPads etc that can receive TV.

Thing is, when you've been paying religiously for year after year, wouldn't you think they'd allow most people over 60 to keep what little they may have to spend with their pensions, especially if they're immobile? Oh but, I'm being silly now, aren't I?

The last thing we need on the BBC channels is commercials advertising products as there is enough of them on the other channels.

A few pence a day keeps the advertisements away!

Its time the BBC got rid of these so called presenters who are overpaid for what they do and cut back on the pundits also . Why do they need 3 or4 presenters and another 3 or 4 pundits for a sports programme I have only just started to watch TV again and the commercials seem to take up a lot of the time per hour or is just me . I can easily make a cup of tea or a butty without missing any of the programme

What entertainment? For the three programmes I watch religiously, I'd be happy to pay £1.50 a year but, as I only watch one of those on BBC, I'd be even happier just paying 50p!

There have been some very good drama's series on the BBC, ITV, Channels 4 & 5 which have been well worth the 50p a day.

Perhaps if some stopped watching "Past their sell by date" programmes like Strictly, BGT, Saturday night takeaway and the c*** reality shows some of which involve the 'stealing a living Ant and Dec' they might see the better programmes on the many channels!
