When they're caught they should break every finger on their hands. That might teach them a lesson, thieving little ..... (you fill in the blank).

Mr Biker, that's the problem with the legal system in this country - too many do-gooders, but I feel that a punishment should fit the crime.

You take a life - you forfeit yours. In some Arabic countries a thief has his hand chopped off. If he does it again, off comes the other one as well. He can't do it anymore.

Harsh? Maybe. Justice? Yes.

Are you suggesting that the time as now come for the re-introduction of the death penalty and more draconian punishment measures to combat the increasing murders, rapes, grooming etc taking place on a daily basis in many of our towns and cities which is as bad if not worse than many of the towns and cities of the USA.

What chance have the Police got when thy are not getting any help from the present Judicial system and the government who employ them,.

OC what justice is there for the victims familyIf there is any doubt jail the offender if without a shadow of a doubt like the Southport murders bring back the death penalty, Why should we keep people like him in jail just get rid of him .If a dog attacked a person and kills that person most of the time that dog is put down we don't keep it in a kennel to live out its life.

So what would these 'Bandits' have actually been stealing ?

They run in and shout "This is a stick up" if that language is still used, but most transactions are now done electronically, so what would they have got away with ?

Owd Codger, absolutely yes. Capital punishment should never have been rescinded, and other punishments to fit the crime.

Murder = lethal injection
Rapist = chop off part of the meat and two veg, choice of three
Thieves = chop off fingers one by one with each theft
Groomers = jail for a minimum of 15 years
Druggies = self-inflicted, so no right to a Paramedic
Drug Dealers = 25 years minimum
Drunk & Disorderly = jail for six months and no right to an ambulance

Sounds fair enough to me, although I must admit, somewhat contentious. So be it.

I'm only too well aware of how difficult the jobs of the Police are, having watched so many Police documentaries and the outcome of those who have committed crime, which ends up with a slap on the wrist for being naughty. So frustrating when the Police have had to go to great lengths to bring them to justice, only to be given a slap across the face for their efforts.

Judging by the silence, it looks like those who come on Wigan World do not agree with your draconian punishments to do something about the increasing crime!

But in my case, I think that if your suggestions were law, I think the mere idea of what punishment they would receive might deter them from committing any crime with many going back to their own countries!

Never heard such nonsensical ideas in my entire life.
Suggestions of making punishments fit the crime is barbaric and medieval to say the least.
Why not use the wrack, thumb screws, and a red hot poker up the rear end to extract information from suspected criminals too. Some criminals may be evil and barbaric in their behaviour but are we not supposed to be a civilised human beings, with a justice system. It may be an imperfect system but at least it's a merciful one. Have we not all criticised other cultures for their barbarism and and repressive regimes.

Correct, but what a pity the same law abiding system is not accepted by many of the newcomers who act like they would do in their own counties.

Just one example of the many horrific examples being the Asian parents of a daughter in Warrington who because the daughter did not want to go into arranged marriage, abused, tortured, finally murdered her and dumped her body in a lake in Cumbria.

As the saying goes, when in Rome do as the Romans do, but in the case of many of our newcomers, our laws and regulations are considered not to have anything to do with them.

Our prisons are overflowing with prisoners,Kill a few off then there will be plenty of room for the rest.

We have many instances of barbaric behaviour within our own culture both past and present. What about Fred and Rose West, Ian Brady and Myra Hindley. Can't get more depraved and barbaric than those four.
There are too many more to mention too. So it's not all Asians or other cultures who behave in this manner. And before anyone chooses to accuse me of defending any of them, believe me I'm certainly not.
Scum, the lot of them.
Our entire justice system and immigration rules need to be overhauled.
But the last thing we need is a backward step in the justice system and the ' hang 'em high' rule of law.

I never said you were defending the ones from other countries and you are right in saying we have many of our own, but do we have to add to them with others?

OC Sorry if I misled. My remark was intended for the ones who may have thought I was defending them and not to you personally.
