Mr Burnham
Not a favourite of mine but he has done well securing the millions from government to lower emissions rather than tax motorists and business users/HGV for "Clean Air". I have never used public transport as much as I have over the last couple of years...now having a bus pass - marvellous. I'm just wondering how much was wasted erecting all those thousands of clean air zones signage etc...and how much to take them all down. again....

Andy told me it didn't cost us anything, because the EU lot paid for them to be put up and the EU lot will pay to have them taken down.

He may not be in Manchester much longer. He’ll be in number 10 Downing Street.

Gaffer
But he would have to become an MP to do that.

I know. He will get an MP to resign and stand in the subsequent by election.
A possible sticking point would be any involvement with the grooming gangs cover up. He could also suffer the same outcome as Patrick Gordon Walker, Foreign Secretary in Harold Wilson’s government. He lost his seat in the 1964 general election and lost a bye election a short time later in a supposedly safe Labour seat.

I thought Burnham had more about him. I was very much disappointed with him for that very poor attempt at supporting the national call for an inquiry into the grooming gangs. A limited inquiry is definitely not what is needed. These gangs need to be exposed for what they are, no matter who is involved.

Jathbee you have hit the nail on the head WHO is involved in these gangs and more people want exposing for their vile acts against the venerable young girls

What chance will anything be done by the present government when it is a known fact that most of the gangs are from a certain religion where 70% of that religion are known to be voters of their party!

I think it's appalling that, yet again, these poor young girls are being let down. It's been happening for years now. Time these perpetrators were brought to justice.

Local Authorities don't need to vote, as the government has already agreed to inquiries at local level.

Why did the Tories not sort it out in 14yrs? Especially as 70% don't vote for them!

Many might consider your comment to be appropriate about Starmer and the present government.
Rio Caroni
The 70% only referred to those of a certain religion and not the electorate in general.
It sure is hard work with some in Wigan!
