change out of a fiver for 2 pints

Started by: tomplum (13981)

Today me and the gang .( 3 other bored cyclists) can't ride for obvious reasons, decided to get a train to Liverpool, had a walk round the centre in the museums and went into the , Captains table for late lunch/early tey, Its a wetherspoons so, reasonable charges, we all had a meal and a drink which came to roughly a tenner per person, then we got chatting and decided to stay in the warmth for a while longer so went to the bar for 2 pints, one for Tony and one for myself, the other 2 had coffee and thats free once you pay for one you can have as many as you please , I aked the bar tender for two pints of bitter and he said " £2.70 please" so I said to him, " no Two pints "and put two fingers up thinking that. my accent had not confused the lad and he replied, " that is for Two pints sir"
I nearly fawd over

I love Liverpool Me,

I drove past what is now called 'Sheringtons' one night this week. I cant remember the exact day? It was about 8.00 pm I couldn't believe it There were people sat outside it was FREEZING, drinking beer at extortionate prices. When they could get a choice of beers 100 yards up the road and sat inside. in the warm. for half the price I've come to the conclusion that these [people are of the same ilk that frequented the Cherry Gardens 30/40 years ago Who thought they were a CUT ABOVE us mere mortals So they could say out loud "OH IVE JUST BEEN IN THE CHERRIES." Use to hear that numerous times around town at weekends.

Admin there are a few people who because they visit an establishment or drive a fancy motor think they are better than anybody else. But if you cut them they will bleed so they are no different than you or me

You're paying for the ambience when you're using pubs like the Cherry Gardens.
