Good wholesome meal for 30 pence
I took the Long suffering to Golborne Asda this morn for the Traditional pre Xmas panic shop and, while she took the long route round ever isle, I did the essential beer shop and notice as I walked past the veggies , A big bag of Carrots for 30p, I immediately ear marked a bag for my main meal of the day and tonight loaded the steamer, Gave them 10 mins at full steam, added cottage cheese for that extra creamy taste and Wallop,
Food fit for a King at an affordable price,
Keep yer turkey , pork and roasties,

I take it that was for a 500g bag, because I have been buying the 1kg bags from Asda for ages now for 65p

I'm not sure about putting cottage cheese on carrots.
Surely you didn't eat a whole bag of carrots between you?
Problem with carrots is they have a fairly short life once opened, but there is a good way of storing them so that they stay fresh for much longer. To do that, chop the tops off, but don 't scrape them first, then place them in a big enough container, and cover with water, and into the fridge. My favourite vegetable.

I guess it must have been, I'm a bloke shopper, I'm easy fooled by the marketing executives who watch me wandering about the shelves with little or no idea about day to day prices, I grab what I think its cheap then make my getaway to the till and exit, Then I'm waiting in the carpark for another hour for mrs plum pushing the Eiffel tower on wheels

Yesterday in Lidl I got 1kg of carrots for 0.8p!
Also parsnips, shallots and sprouts were 8p per bag.
The bags of sprouts had all gone, well it is Christmas!

Tom, you're supposed to scrape or peel carrots before cooking them to get rid of any dirt that may still be on them. Do you cook boiled potatoes for mash without peeling them? Carrots taste much better once they've been scraped.
I dunno. What are we going to do with you? First it was mushy pea sundae and mushy pea salad; now it's carrots!

Mollie, I like baked potatoes , quick rinse under cold tap , no peeling or scraping at all and the skin is the best part of them, in the oven 1 hour then slit down the middle long ways and side ways then filled with cottage cheese, I missed those for 8p so, thats another good meal deal,

Those carrots from Asda really are tasty, and fresh, with a nice colour, and they are really hard, they don't half make a crunch when you chop them, because they are so fresh, and they do need to be properly cooked, and preparation wise I top and tail and peel them, it was once said that you could be poisoned from carrot skin
I like baked potatoes, but I peel off all bits of crap from the surface of the potato, I am fussy over stuff like that, so the potatoes normally end up nearly fully peeled anyway

You do not know what you're missing Tommy tee, The skin of any veg holds all the goodness, vitamins and medical minerals to combat modern living, To prove this, you never see any animal with glasses, hearing aids or walking sticks, poisoning from carrot skin is a teenagers invention to avoid foods they don't like,

Carrot skin can't poison you, as long as you give them a good scrub. Same with potatoes for baking.

Mollie , Domestos kills 99% of all household germs, steaming , boiling or frying kills 100% BUT, we need a few germs to build up our immune tackle , Back in the day, we'd play on the pit hills, mud pits and eat worms before the righteous stopped us, Dogs , cats and farm animals drink from puddles , eat raw meat and never wash after having a poo and, never get coughs,
We need to learn from them,
I've never seen a horse, cow or any animal in a MacDonalds ever, They don't allow then in and, there's a reason for that,,,

I know Tom, but there's a difference between protecting your immune system, and eating something which is potentially poisonous.
No you don't see animals in a McDonalds, and neither would you see a Lesser Spotted Mollie either!
