Cancel the direct debit / standing order?

They'll cut you off?

I'd do what Cheshire Cat suggested as well.

And it will save you all the hassle and inconvenience of listening to piped music interrupted with an intermittent message saying you are 48th in the queue, Mollie

Right. The problem with these places is that they don't want to talk to you; they don't want to hear anything you have to say; they don't want to hear complaints; so they just fob you off until you're exhausted and wasted your time, so they can honestly say that you put the phone down on them.

Cut 'em off at the knees, i-spy. I almost guarantee they'll ring you to ask why you're leaving them and offer you a "better" deal, and then you can have a good old yell at them.

If you cancel the direct debit you’ll still be charged until you cancel your subscription.
Go to the Sky website, look for the Sky Assistant and start live chat. Tell them you can’t afford it any more and also you don’t have time to watch much tv these days.
If they offer a reduced price tell them you still can’t afford it.
Finally tell them you’re pushed for time and can they bring the live chat to an end
by cancelling your subscription.
An old friend of mine had the same problem. He finally succeeded when he said ‘ I don’t have much money and what bit I have I spend on beer and women’

Treat companies with the same comtempt that they now treat you!

Gone are the days of when the customer was respected and not just an account number!

I was with Sky for my internet and phone for over 12 years has a VIP customer. This was supplied through the hard wired phone line and the fastest speed was 35 mps. Two years ago I paid £22-50 then it went up to £27-50 then to £30-50 per month. I looked at my advanced payments and in Dec they were raising the payment to £35-50 then in Jan to £43-50 and we know by at least £3 in April .I phoned up numerous times about this and was fobbed off .Back end of Sept I changed to a new provider BRSK and I have their slowest package which is 150mps +phone at £27 a month..I kept my phone number and E-mail address,Got free installation and £150 off my payments + the price is fixed for 2 years. So no customer loyalty with Sky.Like every thing else in life shop around and save money. Never had any problems with Sky but they priced themself out by wanting at least £43-50 for 35mps

i-spy, that is so true, but not at the company I work for. When the phone rings it's picked up at or before three rings. If it's me that answers, I deal with the caller's request as best I can over the phone but, if I can't personally, I'll take their name, number and request and tell them they'll get a call back as soon as possible, which they do. They're also very grateful for the service we give, especially as they've spoken to a human. That's the way it should be, no matter how large or small the company may be.

just out of curiosity I tried those numbers Peter put up;
The top one 800 is a '0' missing at the front making it a 0800 number and is discontinued.
The second number , also needs a '0' in front and it got me through to a robot, it asks for your reason for calling and after a lot of choices, I was eventually put throu to an Asian and after his warbling about me going to WWW,Sky,com for faster service I explained, I do not have a puter, he played some music and after a few mins, the line went dead,
Dreadfull service,

I did mine online I was paying £58.50 a month for signature HD most the channels from Sky including Sports and Movies but I came to the end of my contract and it was going up to £92 a month so I cancelled it. A few days later they rang me back and I got the same deal as before on a 2 year contract for £48.50. The number that rang me was. 08007613372, I spy.
